My last girlfriend continuously got this bacteria vaginitis/ vaginosis whatever its term is, Now with a new girlfriend, after only a few weeks, she has got it. I have been checked and they say its not me but it has to be something to do with me. does anyone know what may be causing this to happen?? Thank you much!!

I am currently having this issue with my boyfriend. I have never had BV in my life before having had 2 other sexual partners, since we started going out a few months ago I have been down the clinic about 4/5 times with uncomfortable and embarrassing symptoms- itching, burning, foul odor discharge etc. Every time it has been BV apart from one time when it was thrush caused by the antibiotics I was given for BV.
I worked out that the lubricant we were using was possibly upsetting my Vaginal PH imbalance, so we stopped using that. We were then still using condoms as I was on the pill, but was also taking antibiotics and the symptoms kept coming back. So I then thought perhaps the spermicide was an issue (although it had never been previously) and so then we switched to Polyeurathane condoms which have no spermicide on them.
I thought we'd cracked it an we began to have sex without a condom again 7 days after my antibs finished...and it was fine for 2 weeks and then after my partner finished in me I felt like someone had poured acid inside me and was in so much pain for a good 2 hours.
My conclusion has therefore been that;
1) My boyfriend has really alkaline sperm, due to his diet maybe and so this is why it hurt, and possibly I already had underlying BV again.
2) My boyfriend has BV even though doctors say they can't be carriers, but research I've done online in forums etc. has shown that some Gynos and clnics in the US will ALWAYS treat the male partner, whereas in UK the NHS guidelines on BV state that there is no need to treat male.
I would go to your local clinic and ask them for the single dose of metronidazole, it isn't going to kill you to take it if you don't have it, and if you do have it then it solves your girlfriends issues.
If it doesn't make a difference I reccommend your girlfriend go online and buy Bio-FEM Active Gel. which is a gel containing plant extracts and stuff and I have found that it is so far theonly thing which is controlling my BV symptoms- have yet to find out if it is actually killing BV Bacteria but have clinic appmt soon so will see then.
