I can totally relate the same thing happened to me yesterday, i'm 23 female.
i was at work at the time. I felt a bit sickly but couldn't quite put my finger on what was wrong i walked into my office and got as far as opening the door then my eye sight went i managed to stumble over to my desk and find my chair all i could her was like fainting mumbles i could hear people trying to talk to me but couldn't reply cos i didn't know what was being said. it must of lasted about 5 mins before i was able to see properly again it was kinda strange like having your eyes half closed when there not. i also had a ringing in my ear for a minute or so.
I went to the Doctor last night but he couldn't actually tell me anything because he didn't know what i was trying to describe.

I had the same symptoms since I was 15 I would be standing on sitting and all of a sudden my body would change temperature and I would break into a bad sweat and my ears would start to ring and the next thing I know my vision would go out I could not be able to hear either and my heart would be racing I felt like I couldn’t breath like a panic attack but I new it was so much more than just that I was to the point where I would blackout like pass out with my eyes open but no vision so I went to the doctor and had every test possible MRI, EEG, EKC, CT, HALTER, STRESS, ULTRASOUND, and much much more for about 2 years and then one day my cardiologist sent me to go take a test called THE TILT TABLE TEST and I passed out within 6 minutes of this test that was suppose to be a 60 minute long test well what this test told me is I have something called VASIL VEGIL and basically this is a nerve that sends a signal to your brain that sends a signal to the valve in the heart that opens and shuts so it can pump the blood throughout your body correctly.. Well basically my valve was not doing this so I was not getting any blood to my brain so I would pass put pr come close, my hearing would go out and my vision same old same old every time to the point I new it was coming. So then the doctor put me on a betta blocker called ATENOLOL and I am 27 now and have had no more symptoms but the doctor did advise to drink alot of GATORADE because it has high SODIUM, which is good to keep your blood pressure up. Also it helps to lay flat on the floor in the mean time until you get the rite medication for you this will help your blood flow easily try it trust me it works I know it sounds stupid if your out some place but if it helps then its worth it trust me I have gone through this for several years and now its so much better. I more thing is this will not hurt up you can grow out of it someday at least that’s what my doctors told me but do try that test its worth knowing good luck to all of you.

Thanks for posting this, doctors don't know what's wrong with me, my mother or my dad, and I'll mention this the next time I go. It's flaming scary when it happens. A good way I've found to help people understand the loss of sight is like the end of a bugs bunny cartoon when it goes black except for a circle in the middle. (Cept white for me)

I am aware of a young athlete who suffered a temporary loss of vision while participating in an athletic event.
Two years later at age 14 she was jogging. Just before collapsing she complained about tiredness, loss of hearing and vision. She never recovered and passed away a few hours later of a heart valve disorder. Please see information on this topic and have :'( your heart tested.

had the same thing twice...some 2 years ago...had a similar kind of blackout and i could realise that i m fainting and actually did at one instance....i got better after having water, at both times and was almost normal withing half an hour...got all tests done (MRI, scan, EEG) but nothing came out. What all doctors could suggest that if it happens again (maybe even after some months), then it is quite possibly a neurological problem - its like the body having a fit of somekind at that moment. It needs a medicine to b taken for some 3-4 years to cure the same. Hereditary is one of the reasons, though there is nothing of that sort in my family. I was suggested against driving, swimming, standing alone on a roof or any higher platform, crossing the road alone, being alone in the kitchen...esp. to avoid any accident and was also suggested to keep a bottle of water with me, always and to just sit down wherever i am if i get the nausea feeling again + not to stand for too long, if at all i have to then keep lifting a feet or rotating it

Had the same thing 3 times, when going from outside while it was freezing to somewhere warm inside a building.
So it's like my body can't handle the temperature change and shuts down partially.
For me it starts with lots of heat generating from inside my body, after that it starts to ring in my ears and everything sounds far away.
Then the blindness sets in, after a couple of minutes it will go away to some sort of purple hazy thing and to normal eyesight again.
It's quite odd when you can talk, and when somebody talks back it sounds like he is on the other side of the room.
Also quite a strange sensation walking during something like this, let's you know how hard blind people have it. o.O
One time a first aid guy thought I was either on drugs or lying, so it's not very common I guess. Doctor didn't know anything about it either, thought it was probably a migraine. Right-o. 8-|

OMG the same thing happens to me, but when it happens to me it just randomly comes and goes out of the blue. Its like nothing that i know of causes it because i could be doing something one minute and then the next minute out of the blue it happens. My hearing starts to quiet down and i get all shaky and then my vision starts to blur and go black and i cant see anything and then i start to sweat real hard, and i can still hear what is happening around me but it is very hard to hear it all clearly, then as fast as it shows up it all ends at once. But the one thing that seems to help me stop shaking once its over is if i eat or drink something with sugar in it and then I'm perfectly fine again. Plus when it does happen to me it only lasts for no more than a minute or two. I cant really remember when it first happened to me, but the earliest time that i remember it happening to me was when i was like 16 or 17 years old but i cant remember if it happened anytime before that. i was told that it might be low blood sugar but im not sure what, why or how it happens.

LISTEN...this exact situation happened to me for the first time just a few days ago. The answer is DEHYDRATION. I was at my college in the dining hall getting a sandwich and the lady puts it on the grill.. so I leave because I start to feel nauseous and immediately sit down. All i could think of was 'i need to sit down or i am definitely going to black out in front of all these people'. So I sit down and the next thing i know the effects im feeling are getting more intense and uncomfortable and i dont know what to do with myself. It's a scary thing. My ears start ringing and I can barely hear. THEN my sight starts getting fuzzy and its hard to see. My friends were up getting food for themselves so I'm at the table ALONE bugging out. I try to open my phone and call someone but when I look at my phone screen its just a big, bright light and i cannot decipher anything on the screen. I completely forgot about my food and everything else and really thought I was going to die because I never experienced this before and i didnt know what was going to happen next. I just wanted the whole thing to pass. I was pouring cold sweat from every part of my body and I look down and the table is soaked from the sweat pouring out of my arms. It's extremely hard to breathe and I dont know what to do and I just want to put my head down on the table. Im ripping off my sweatshirt and its almost impossible to attain the energy to unzip my jacket. It literally felt like it was lasting forever when it was only about 5 minutes. Once one of my friends showed up they saw my face, which was apparently white as a ghost and pouring sweat, and grabbed water immediately without saying anything. Once i chugged the water down it went away - DEHYDRATION. Probably didnt help to be popping adderalls and studying for midterms for days, not sleeping or eating. NEVER AGAIN, AND NO MORE ADDERALL DO NOT TAKE IT IF YOU ARE NOT PRESCRIBED IT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A BUNCH OF MY FRIENDS WHEN THEY TAKE IT.

OH MY GOD !!!! that's exactly what happend to my friend! she couldn't figure out what was wrong with her! :-( But then as she and her friend started to search for diagnoses from the internet, they found this and this is pretty much the same that happend to her! I told them to visit the doctor... It is possible that they have diabetes. :'( But they're OK now. Oh and btw we're all 15 year old girls too! :-D

I quite literally had this happen to me. I'm not sure if mine was brought on by the same thing though. I was standing outside smoking a cigarette, when I was overcome with nausea and then I started to blackout (visually) I got to be very weak and had to sit down, and then I couldn't hear anything. I ended up lieing down on the ground in the rain and my sight and then my hearing slowly came back. I'm really freaked out about this.

I have experienced a similar thing! A couple of years ago I blacked out - completely lost my vision but was very aware of everything else. I went to the Doctor but he put it down to the fact I'm on the pill, I then went to the Opticians who found nothing wrong with my eyes and he suggested it sounded like I had fainted without collapsing and advised I had blood tests done - these all came back ok. I thought it was probably a one off until it happed one day last week so I'm now wondering if I should go back to the Doctors and what the causes of it might be. Its good to know other people have experienced this though!

This actually happened today and I thought I'd research it online. It ALWAYS, always happens to me when I'm around blood (deathly afraid of) or when I'm in a traumatic/shocking situation (grandma in hospital, people talking about blood and I can't leave the room). The first time this ever happened to me was way back in 6th grade. It's happened a lot within the past few years. I start feeling dizzy, then I get hot and sweaty, and my ears start ringing. All the energy is sucked out of me and I HAVE to lay my head down. It's hard to even mumble words. It goes away after five minutes or so but I have a headache after. What the heck is the cause of this!?

I am a 29 year old female, I have been dealing with this same thing for approx. 10 years now, I have taken numerous testing as well with my doctor telling me there is nothing wrong and that all tests are negative - so much infact that he at one point thought I was making it up. I have tried to do research on this however was never able to find anything until today, so it is nice to hear I am not the only one. I too have the sick feeling followed by the loss of sight and almost loss of hearing which always sounded to me like someone had placed two Rainsticks at my ears and kept turning them while everything else that I could normally hear moves away. These somewhat blackouts always last approx 5 minutes however seem like forever and can be very frightening when around other people expecially being they dont understand what is happening to me and why I cant see anything when my eyes are open and why I cant hear them properly. I have read all of the posts on here and am feeling a little bit better that maybe there may be something actually wrong - I am not sure if anyone else has tried anything new test wise but I was tested for Diabetes which came back negative, my blood pressure was taken as well on the last 6 episodes and each of them show a different reading some were low, some were high and some showed normal, I also spoke to my doctor about the dehydration thing and was advised that could not be the case as medically I show no signs of being dehydrated nor does my skin show it. I will be going back in a few days as my attacks seem to be coming on more frequent now, I am hoping that someone may have another idea or if someone has gotten some results if they are willing to share so I may be able to take it to my doctor to check me for
Thanks to everyone for posting.

Same thing happened to me Monday. I'm 18. I woke up with intense abdominal pain, I got up and walked to the bathroom and sat on the toilet. Suddenly my vision completely went away. I reached my hand around to find the sink and splashed water on my face. Didn't help. Still blind, I stood up and had no balance as practically fell into my bathtub. At this time I noticed extremely loud ringing in my ears. I laid on the floor and tried to call my mom on my cell (I don't even go to the bathroom with out it ha) but I couldn't see anything but a blury light coming from my phone. When I some how managed to reach her, I could bearly hear her over the ringing. When i hung up, my sight started to come back and the ringing slowly faded. I noticed my entire body drenched in cold sweat. Not normal! I went to urgent care and they said my blood sugar and blood pressure was completely normal but that i should go to the ER. However, I had a class in a few hours and i was feeling better, just a bit out of it. I have been feeling alright since but I'm still very concerned with what happened and do not want it to happen again! Also I am prescribed to ADDERALL but I hadn't taken it in a few days when it happened. I often skip days and nothing like that has ever happened. So as relieved as i am that there are others with my condition, it concerns me that there hasn't been a solution and its pretty discouraging . I'm going to have some tests run but who knows if it will make a difference. :'(
