I am pregnant with my second child and 20 weeks into the pregnancy.  I have had some really bad headaches this entire pregnancy so far but the dr told me thats typical as I had some severe headaches before pregnancy.  Now the headaches have gotten worse, about a week ago I started suffering from blind spots in my right eye and everytime I would close my eyes I would see this bright ring flash in both eyes.  After about two days of this I went to my eye dr who said my actual eye is fine but it may be a neuro issue.  Well it has continued but I dont have insurance nor alot of money so I have been to another dr yet and last night and today I am also suffering from temporary hearing loss when my headaches get bad and my vision starts leaving me (now in both eyes) .  I am scared out of my mind and just trying to figure out some type of explantion as to what might be going on.  All help is more than appreciated!

See your doctor now.

It may be pre-eclampsia.  You have some of the symptoms and the timing is right.  Basically your blood vessels constrict.  This causes the vision and hearing problems.  It also reduces blood pressure to your organs, including possibly the uterus.  This can endanger your unborn child and your health as well.

It may also be a form of migraine but it needs to be evaluated.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thank you for your reply, I went to see my ob and she tested for protien and BP and says I dont have preeclamsia (she also did a liver panel to check for Hellp) she thinks it may be neurological but isn't sure.  She wrote rx to help with the pain (basically it just makes me sleep through it) but the pain has now gotten so much worse the medicine isn't touching it.  And now it is causing me to have emotional waves.  Ill be happy then I will have a day where im just so mad and all i can do is cry.  Its not like typical pregnancy mood swings this is my second child so I can tell the difference!  Im scared to death.!!!!!   Do you have any other ideas as to what it may be I wrote back to you because I cant get answers from anyone else.  please help thank you so much

Hi M, I'm glad that that checked out OK. Sometimes headaches can be caused by carrying extra weight. Your posture will be off and as you compensate it gives you a tension headache. Otherwise it may be neurological. I won't second guess your doctor but you shouldn't have to live in pain or be drugged out. Did he/she make any recommendation for treatment? Hang in there. Good luck.
