This happened to me twice. The first time was in chemistry class and as we were using bunsen burners I thought it was gas poisoning. I felt really sick, like i was going to throw up and then my hearing went muffled and echoey and everything was blurry. Then I blacked out completely but I could hear a little. My friend nudged me and then I could see and hear a little better. Everyone said I looked really white. It happened  again a few months later but more milder and quicker and I got up and started moving rather than staying still which helped. It really confuses me.

Hi! I have been experiencing something similar for a while now, but I experienced it at its worst today.  I usually just experience a loss of vision and sometimes hearing when I stand up or enter a different room.  I thought that this was just because I stood up too quickly or something, but I now know that can't be it.  I was standing today for a long period of time and I started to feel a little sick, like my muscles seemed a bit achy and I started to get really hot.  Then a lady started talking to me and all of a sudden I could still hear that she was saying something but I did not know what she was saying.  I was trying to concentrate on what she was saying but all the sound in the room kind of just became muffled.  And around the same time that I lost my hearing I lost my vision.  At first I thought it was going to be ok and that it would come back after a few seconds like always, but this time it got progressively worse.  I first saw a couple of black spots and then they just kept getting bigger until all I could see was black and nothing else.  This was really scary cause nothing like this ever happened to me before.  After a minute or so the blackness began to go away and I was able to make my way to a chair.  The people around me noticed me struggling to the chair and said that I was beat red.  I was really hot and sweaty. They gave me some water and took my blood pressure and said it was low and asked me if I ate anything, but I had just ate an hour before this happened.  I've been researching this online because I am paranoid that something it wrong with me and I am absolutely terrified.  This was the only website that I found where the symptoms seemed to match up to mine.  I know a lot of these posts were made months and years ago, but if any of you see this and have gotten answers can you please reply and share any knowledge that you may have received over time.  Thank you so much!

I just had a "Blackout" experience over the weekend while I was camping. I was cooking on the grill and then all of a sudden, I felt very light-headed and my vision started the blur. I stepped away from the grill and sat down on the ground. At this time my friends came over and asked me what was going on. At this time I couldnt see anything, I could only hear voices. I also didn't have control over my balance and my friends needed to help me from falling. It was very scary. A few minutes later, my vision starting coming back and I could see again. I sat in a chair and drank lots of water, not knowing what had just happened. Sounds like this happens to a lot of people regularly.. is it worth going to see the doctor?

I am a 31 year old male and this same thing has been happening to me since I was about 16 years old.  The worst it ever got was last night.  I was hanging out with a group of friends and I went to the bathroom.  While in the bathroom, my hearing started to fade and my ears started to ring.  Then, my vision blurred and I could tell that there were lights on, but I couldn't tell where I was or what was going on.  I started to sweat profusely as well.  Then, as I was trying to get out of the bathroom to a place where I could sit down, my legs gave out and I fell.  I am an American living in Southeast Asia right now, and I was the only American in the house.  Somehow I was able to pull myself back up, even though I still couldn't see or hear.  I made my way through the kitchen to where my friends were, and I mumbled something about not feeling well and needed to lie down.  A good friend helped me get upstairs to an empty bedroom and said that my face was as white as my shirt and I could feel sweat coming off of my head and arms as if there were a hose turned on right above me.  I lied there on the bed with a fan on me for about 10 minutes and slowly, my vision and hearing came back.  As soon as I could talk coherently, I asked a friend to get me some candy and a hamburger to help get my blood sugar up.  I have asked doctors about this all over the US and in other countries around the world, and none of them have an answer for it.  All the tests come back negative.  But, this time I was able to figure it out.  It is caused by stress.  Over the past several days I have been under an incredible amount of stress caused by my work situation, my family situation, and a problem with my girlfriend.  I was also the only American in the room and I don't yet speak the local language, so I didn't know what anyone was saying.  I got a weird feeling that everyone was talking about me because of the way they were looking at me....and that's when I got up to use the bathroom and hit the floor.  Thinking back, every time this has happened to me (6 times now), I have been under incredible stress, and I am the type of person who just tries to "man up" and deal with it rather than manage stress in a healthy way, so I'm sure now that this is the cause.  Your body is only comfortable doing its job as long as your mind is comfortable.  My mind was not comfortable because of the stress and the alienated feeling I experienced, so my body shut down.  I still don't know how to keep this from happening again in the future, but it's nice to know that I'm not alone.  I didn't want my friends here to worry or take me to a shady hospital so I told them I was just drunk (even though I only had 1 drink and I'm 6'2" 190lbs).  Good luck and please let me know if you have any ideas on the neurological cause of this disorder or how to effectively treat it.

Hey, I'm 18 and just came out the bath when I suddenly felt like I was going to be sick and I went really dizzy. I walked down the stairs to get a glass of water thinking I was dehydrated and I started to lose my sight slowly and the dizziness got worse. As soon as i drank a bit of water I completely lost my vision all together and so sat down, I seriously thought I was dieing and my head was throbbing, I must have sat there for about 5 minutes before my vision came back blurry and then without knowing it had gone my hearing came back and everything was really loud. I got up to walk upstairs and I felt it starting again. This has happened to me before but never this bad. Thanks for posting your worrys, its really helped me and others to have an idea of whats wrong.

This also happened to me, it was in a bad situation tho! my mum says its from lack of sleep and food..

We were at school having the anzac assembly, and it kept dragging on and on.. and then i began feeling really sick, i could feel my face going white, and my friend told me it did, i felt like i was going to throw up and needed to throw up if i dont sit down soon.. but i felt bad because the anzac assembly was still going, so i kept standing which made it worse and worse.. and i couldnt stand straight anymore i was wobling side to side.. near the end of the assembly the teacher said "continue standing" im im just thinking oh god are you serious!! then i dropped to the floor in a squat kinda pose, because if i stood any longer i was going to vomit for sure. and i was slowly getting better, but then my sight it went black, and one circle in the middle (it felt like an effect) where i could see but it was really REALLY blury! All i remember thinking was, i bet this is what it feels like to be blind.. my friend was talking to me but the noise didnt come out normally, i was freaking out i thought i lost my eyesight forever :/!! but i think the whole thing happened in like 4-5 minutes. and everything went back to normal.

It was the weirdest experience.

There could be a number of causes for this, blood sugar is one possibility, but because most the the people posting had the symptoms for only a shot time and recovered without any intervention of any kind it is unlikely blood sugar was involved as it would not fluctuate that rapidly. The most common occurrence of sudden dizziness with loss of hearing and vision is a condition of low blood pressure that results in too little oxygen reaching the brain. It often occurs when standing after sitting or lying down. It can progress to complete loss of consciousness. This can be serious if it occurs in situation that is dangers, like crossing a street or near the subway from the threat of being struck. If it occurs very infrequently and only when you have not be active it is probably not of concern. But if it occurs when you have been walking for some time, like at the subway, it must be checked. If it continues to happen, you are in danger. Fainting near roads or moving machinery can result in serious injury or death. Other causes can be serious medical problems, like strokes. Because it is not painful people tend to think it is not serious, but it can result in becoming permanently disabled or death.

Hello! I'm a 19 year old female. The exact same thing just happened to me. I went to the bathroom and started feeling nauseous. My hearing started to go out and my vision slowly started to do the same. I began to hear ringing in my ears. I splashed some water on my face and went to my room to get the phone to try and call someone. I felt like I was going to have a panic attack. I sat back down and my body (mainly my head) started to feel really hot and I began to sweat a bit. I'm feeling better now. This all only lasted a minute or two. I think I might be getting a cold, but I don't know if that contributes to what just happened.

Hey, I am a 23 y/o female and have experienced the same thing quite a few times. I have been diagnosed with major anxiety. Almost every night as a teenager this would happen to me because of intense fears. It does not happen very often now thank goodness. I have always thought of it as a really bad panic attack. I lose my sight, get all sweaty, only hear a ringing in my ears. It is total helplessness, I never actual faint but am completely immobilized. After a minute or two I gain my senses back.

I am a 14 year old girl.  When i was 13, i starting having episodes where i got really hot and sweaty, my vision was pixelated and blurry, and my hearing sounded strange; like i was at the bottom of a well and people were yelling to me.  When this happens to me, i panic because i'm not sure what to do.  When i panic, i feel like it gets worse.  I saw a doctor and went through many tests.  They did an MRI, EEG, EKG, took blood for many different things, and they only found out that I was anemic. I've been taking my iron pills, and these symptoms have still been happening. My mother recently looked up on the internet a condition called "VasoVagal Synscope." I have been researching this a lot lately, and it says that anemia and many other things can cause this.  Basically this condition is when you don't get enough blood flow to you're brain, which make you pass out.  I have been on this website, (http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=89547) and reading all about it.  The test for this is simple.  It's called the "tilt table test."  They strap you to a table, and they "tilt" the table forwards so you're standing up straight, then backwards so you're upside down, and then flat.  It's a 60 minute test.  I was reading online, that someone took this test, and passed out 6 minutes through.  This test is very effective, and could help solve my problem.  I am going to the doctor today, to see if my doctor thinks it a good idea to go have this test done.  This is what the test looks like:

Mine currently happened last night, I was in the car with my friends then all of a sudden my kidneys began to hurt like someone was pushing my middle section inward, from all around. Then I started to have similar symptoms, such as losing my hearing and my vision turned black. I started sweating profusely and then after I calmed down, it was a cold sweat. I've had this happen to me 2 other times, but the most awkward part about this recent one that occurred yesterday, was that after all the chronic symptoms I suddenly had a terrible migraine. The things I have limited it down too, is that the day before I had drank a lot of alcohol then all day yesterday I didn't eat or drink anything, so maybe the blood sugar level and dehydration both played a part in the whole treacherous peril. If anyone has any relation, please let me know.

For anyone who has any blood sugar or illness problems, I serioulyy recommend watching Forks over Knives and trying what them say.
