My dad had renal cell carcinoma 7 years ago and had the kidney removed. 5 years ago a tumor developed in the vena cava and was successfully removed. Just last week his scans showed bone cancer in the spine, lymph nodes, hip etc. The spine is so severe that one vertebrae has a hole exposing the spinal cord. We have not been told by a doctor how long he may have to live. They are starting radiation therapy for pain and cementing 2 of the 3 diseased vertebrae to help with pain. Based on this information, should we expect that my dad will not survive but months or could we have years? He is a heart patient and diabetic which further complicate things! Any input will be appreciated.
