I read some of the posts on the Bravo and I not sure I want to have it done. Its suppose to be done on the 19th and stay in for 7days. I've been a singer all my life but now I can't even carry a tune, my voice breaks up, and that started about 1yr ago. My voice drops real low for no reason and maybe 5 mins. later it might go back to normal, sometimes longer. If I working bending up and down, my voice changes. That all started about 5yrs ago. When I eat alot it just comes right back up. I don't get sick, I just throw up and keep on going. I've also throwed up blood a couple of times about 2 wks ago. I always get a tickle in my thoat and have coffing spells. I have sleep apnea and live on the breathing machine every night. Its Bypap with settings of 14/12. I've had breating tests and still blow over 100%. Yes I smoke and drink beer. I'm 53 and have had reflux for 35yrs. Been on all different meds. Now for over 5yrs I've been on Nexiam. It controls the pain. But things have only gotten worse over the years. One doctor ran a bora-scope threw my nose and down to my voical chords 1 week ago. She said they looked dehydrated. All sticky like. She sent me to Gastro Doctor who wants to do the bravo. Can't he run a scope with out leaving that monitor thing in my throat? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

From what I know about the bravo probe, they won't be able to gauge the level of your pH issues with your reflux without the probe. I know it sounds really scary though! I've seen pictures of the probe and it's smaller than a penny so it's actually not very invasive. It sounds a lot to me like you're suffering with this disease so think about your motivations here: a little more discomfort so they can help you with your problems, or putting off the discomfort to live as you already have? It's ultimately your choice, but I think the bravo probe may be the solution to at least some of your problems! I wish you luck either way. Keep us posted on your recovery.
