I had a serious auto accident and needed rods to support both the tibia and fibula. After approx 3 months of recuperation, all 5 screwheads from the vertical part of the tibia rod broke at the same time and the rod pushed away from the tibia. I had been given permission from my doctor to walk without a cane if I wanted to at this point. Eventually this put a lot of pressure on the fibula because approx 3 weeks later it fractured just above the rod. Has any one heard of screw heads shearing off. It just seems unique.
