Hello! I use paracetamol almost every day since my arms hurt. After taking of two 500mg tablets I don’t feel any pain at all and it is really a relief. Since I use paracetamol for a long time I don’t know if I can stop all of sudden. Maybe it would be better to lower the dosage to one tablet of 500mg and then stop after few days. Will I feel any side effects?

Hello! Paracetamol is a non-opiate analgesic usually used it short term treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever. It is not scheduled for long term use. People usually use it for few days when they get flu or cold to lower the temperature and decrease pain. It is also used at the beginning of osteoarthritis therapy, but again, not for very long period of time. When you stop taking paracetamol you will feel no effects at all since it has no addictive components. I think you should visit your doctor and discover the source of your pain and don’t take any medicine for long term without consultation with him.

Hi mireille35882,
I had Shingles last year, but still have pain my forehead and around right eye. What I have now is known as postherpetic neuralgia. I've been taking Paracetamol continuously for well over a year, presently at 3 grams/24 hours. I want to quit entirely. The pain is now, I think, bearable without a pain killer.

Hello, I had Shingles in exactly the same location in 2015. I also have Postherpetic Neuralgia now. Hot pain in right forehead up to top of my head. My eye was very painful for a long time and my vision was affected, but it's fine now. I took 3 to 4 grams of Paracetamol daily, which is under the safe daily limit, but for Far Too Long! I thought it was helping but I was wrong.

Just over a week ago, I quit entirely. Nothing happened, because it is not addictive. I notice no difference in the pain with or without Paracetamol.

I have been checking out benefits of essential oils. I have learned that Geranium Oil is very effective for treatment of what we are both suffering from. I plan to get some soon. You can learn more about this online.
