Thanks to all who've posted. I'm 31 female w/ CCD. I think I was diagnosed around 3 years of age and no one in my family seems to have it. My case is pretty mild I think. I walk w/o a cane or walker but stairs are tough and I get tired if I over-exert myself. I have a noticeable limp. I'm in great shape and try to stay as active as possible. I even choose to take the stairs sometimes even though it takes forever ;-)
I'm thinking of having a baby and am terrified that I'll pass it along to my child. I've consulted with a geneticist who wasn't very much help and am really struggling with the decision. Anybody have any info about pregnancy and CCD? Being a CCD parent of a CCD child?
I'm a very happy successful person but this disease is tough, especially since so little is known about it. I've never met another person that has it. Dr.'s haven't been much help. I've felt very alone over the years in dealing with this disease.
I've considered adopting, but I know my husband wants to have "our own"and he is very supportive but wants to make sure my body is up to the stress of pregnancy. Glad to have found this site and planning to join the Facebook group.
