Had a cervical fusion way back in 2001- c6-c7. Was young at the time and went in without a care thinking it was an easy procedure. I ended up being on the operating table over 8 hours, something went horribly wrong and was only told there were complications. Found out years later they needed to do a blood transfusion on me and i had no voice for over 3 months post surgery. When i went to retrieve my records years later, they somehow "disappeared". I,m thinking they hit the artery??? Anyways, i need surgery again at c5-c6 and i,m a nervous wreck knowing what happened the first time. Iv'e done my homework this time and am hoping i have a top dr. Any thoughts on what went wrong the first time?
