? Has anybody changed anti depressants because they have just stopped working for you. If they have can you please tell me how long it took to recover when they changed and if there was any problems with changing them. I have changed from pristiq to aropax in the last couple weeks how long does it take to see if they are working?

I think I've tried more than most. I've had to come off one and go on another (suffer withdrawl) etc. It ALL DEPENDS on the medication they give you. If you don't feel a change in a week....let your dr know. Ciprolex (sp?) works great. There are so many options. Some you can switch without slowly going off...and some you wein your self off and add the other one. It can be a rough ride!! If you are having anxiety over this, you need to make an appt right away. Not something to "wait and see"....if you switch again, ask them before you walk out of the office how long it will take to kick in. You know...my pharmasist is a GREAT source of info. You can call them up for free info anytime. Hope that helps. Stay strong...it will be ok soon.

Well, contrary to what Debberduck says there really isn’t such a thing as a withdrawal syndrome with anti-depressants, you mix them with sedatives or barbiturates which are often prescribed as a first aid with depression issues, but they don’t really treat the problem and do have addictive properties. When it comes to anti-depressants, it is possible for different people to have different reactions, but it is commonly accepted that if an antidepressant doesn’t start to work in two to four weeks at most, either it is not the right type or the right dosage hasn’t been prescribed. But, it is very likely that effects that pristiq had on your condition are still there, though you think the drug didn’t work and that should ease the transitional period.
