I'm 13 years old and in about the past 2 years I've been noticing more that my sternum of chest is sticking out. Could this relate to puberty or something that happened when I was born? Will I need surgery? Others said it could make you have a heart issue, I don't know what it is?

Hi Ethan,

It very well could be related to puberty.  Some parts of your body just grow faster than others and it can look "odd."  Eventually the rest of you will catch up.

Without an exam we couldn't say for sure.

Remember, it's normal for a male to develop a more "V" shaped figure on their trunk during puberty.  Another thing to consider is that if it was something from birth, your pediatrician should have already examined you and if it was serious, treated you.

Hope it helps.
