I have just decided I am in the right mind and have the motivation to go cold turkey on codeine. I have been taking at the max 10 tablets of 30/500 for over a year now. I am 21 and it is effecting everything from my moods to sleeping. It has ruined friendships and relationships and has caused arguments among my family. I have just recently been able to admit to myself that I have a problem. I am aware the next few days are not going to be fun but I would appreciate ANY advice on how to help with withdrawal symptoms or even just words of motivation. I created this account especially for this because I have not openly admitted to any friend or family member about my problem. Thank you to anyone who responds your help will be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet is to either talk to a Dr or go to your local emergency room and be honest with them and they should help you out. They should prescribed you clonidine which is a blood pressure medication that really helps with the withdrawal symptoms along with a benzodiazipam like ativan to help mellow you out. The first few days are going to be rough take immodiam for diahreea and make sure your drink fluids if you are un able to eat. I have been down the same road and I assure you things will seem like they never get better but they will stay positive given what information you have provided your withdrawal symptoms should be over in a week's time email me for any questions

Thank you so much for replying it's such a relief to have someone to talk too, especially someone who can relate to it. I rang my dr this morning and asked to talk to her as it was an emergency and after a long talk she's actually put me on a weekly withdrawal dosage of just codeine so I'm not getting the damage from paracetamol. She's giving me 35 this week so I'm on 7 a day and then she's going to drop it down next week. I just hope I have the strength to stick to the 7 a day and don't abuse them :(

Still take the immodiam it is actually an opiate it will help also Google it if you would like. The other thing to think about and I know it is very difficult for you to do is just tell yourself I can beat this and I will be a better person when I do I am here for you. Also just a little information about me I used to take 3 40 mg oxycotin and 12 10 mg percocets and I stopped cold turkey and it was hell but after a few days I started to get better try to eat and drink also get it vitiams that will cut down the physical symptoms good luck God bless
