Wow, it is relieving and scary to read so many posts about this. My husband is going through all of these same issues and it has been really difficult being with someone like this. I dont understand what he is giong through or how to help him. He is absolutely addicted to his adderall and the past year has been diagnosed with depression. We have been together for 10 years, so I remember what he was like and the person he has become. He can barely keep a job, doesnt take care of himself, spends days isolated in the bedroom. I love him very much and want to help him, but not sure what to do with someone in this situation. He is very moody, suspicious of me all the time and very often blames his issues on me. Thank you for sharing your stories with me to know we are not alone.

Adderall caused my son to become very angry and agitated as well. We have switched to vyvanse which seemed to eliminate this a bit. However, they have started him on prozac and this now seems to be manifesting into angry outbursts. Does anyone know a medication for depression that does not have these effects. The wellbutrin was immediately anger generating. The also tried abilify which made hime rage. I need my son back and our doctor seems to take this all in stride. I would appreciate any feedback. He has tried abiilify, prozac, wellbutrin and all seem to make him aggressive.

to everyone who has posted anything on this site, it breaks my heart to finally realize what's been going on with me these past few weeks that i have started taking adderall again. the mood swings, feeling depressed, lonely, like no one cares about me. im 18 years old and just as im trying to figure out my life i find out the one thing that has dramatically improved not only my ability to focus on school and my other activities but also has helped me feel better is now considered a highly addictive drug. im scared for my mental health, already having anxiety/depression its hard to make the right decisions on which drug to take and which not to, don't we all just feel like were so trapped in all this !! im about to start college at the culinary institute of America this upcoming June, and although i know its what im meant to do im not to sure how im going to make it through and work to the best of my ability without adderall, any good suggestions that don't require taking medication or caffeine as an alternative?

I posted here about a year ago when a new Dr took me off Rittalin and put me on Adderall for ADD.  I had been taking rittalin for 16 years and it worked great for me.  I have no idea why the DR tried to switch drugs on me.  Any one on adderall get off it now.  It was the most horrible two months of my life.

I have been on Adderall for the last two years, and before that Vyvanse for 8 months. My side effects had gotten so bad that I decided to stop Adderall entirely 4 weeks ago. I began feeling better in my head, e.g., clearer, more social and sure of myself, the sweating stopped and I felt like myself again. The only problem, and why I went back on Adderall a few days ago, is that I was much less interested in some of the things I loved and craving Adderall all the time. It was so bad that I tried to get the same feeling from pseudoephedrine tabs, which isn't a good thing either. Now that I am back on Adderall, I am feeling stunted in my emotions and wanting to isolate again. It's frightening to think I am so addicted/dependent that I can't stay away from the drug. I really don't know if there is much hope in feeling well ever again. Some have stated that Adderall (especially instant release) is the worst drug for these side effects, but I am not too sure since they are all amphetamines. Although you did well on Ritalin, so...

adderall doesnt deplete seretonin. Its a dopamine and norepinepherine releaser, and subsequently depletes those 2 neurotransmitters. Starting Wellbutrin (a dopamine/norepinepherine reuptake inhibitor) upon quitting adderall, should expedite the withdrawal process substantially

Im a foster mother of a 11 yr old boy with adhd, and apperently his been on this medication since he was 5 yrs old. his dosage has inchrease; his behavior here at my house is good i cant complain but grandma always tells me his behavior is horrible, she also mentioned he cried this weekend and says he feels not loved. We give him all the love he needs, im confused is it the medication that is finally not working like it was years ago or could it be a combination of both beeing in fostercare and taking adderal...how long was your son on aderral? have you seen any improvement with this new medication?

I'm prescribed Adderall XR 30mg and I take one pill a day on week days. For me, it just mellows out my mood and keeps me away from the Manic Depression I've been diagnosed with.

I've been taking adderall for 4 years now. I started  experiencing depression lately this year when college passed by. Now it is summer and I can't find a job. I just sit around the house all day and I used to use the gym at school all the time. My gf thinks I'm ignoring her but I have no money. This stresses me out. I also have to take a summer class in the morning which is half the reason I can't get a job cuz hiring companies need flexible workers. I'm done.
