Suddenly stopped taking Adderall!

First I must criticize you a little. You have to watch out for kid especially when he is taking drug. He is still too little to know importance of taking medications. If he is feeling good then it is good because he doesnt suffer from side effects that can occur in adderall withdrawal. Things that can happen are depression, cardiac difficulties like irregular beating and addiction. Anyway took him to the doctor, explain the situation and act according to his advice.

At that dose there is no risk of stopping Adderall cold turkey. I would not leave a 12 yr. old in charge or with access to a controlled stimulant however. Whether he is or isn't taking it you should be the one to administer it, watch him actually swallow it, and hold onto the remainder of the bottle. Kids as young as 12 will buy and sell their stimulant meds. Usually it starts with another kid finding out they're on it and spreading the word, kids that want it for a buzz will begin pressuring your son and offering him $ for pills. It starts a bad cycle.

Did you ask your son why he stopped taking it? Was it the side effects? Did he feel different or funny on it? I would also explore these questions and unless he really needs it (ie: is out of control, can't sit still, is having social consequences of his behavior etc.) I wouldn't push it. Best of luck to you!
