Hi all,

I have been on 60mg of Cymbalta for a year or two now which at first did appear to help my depression. About six weeks ago though, all my depressive symptoms came back in a rush for no apparent reason, I tried to ride it out but it was getting to the point where I didn't want to get out of bed again, so I went back to my doc. My doc increased my Cymbalta to 90mg about 2 weeks ago, ever since then I have felt like I am on speed. I never had this feeling with the 60mg but now I find that my energy levels are higher but on the downside I cant sleep at night, I am having bad mood swings, and that horrible speedy anxious feeling. It is hard to describe but it feels just like being on a strong dose of duromine (although I still have an appetite) and the effect seems to be increasing with each day. I am on annual leave at work for the next 2 weeks whilr I try and sort myself out, I don't know what to do, I would not be able to go back to work with this speed feeling, but I am hoping since my dosage was only increased 2 weeks ago that the side effects will reduce soon. Has anyone experienced this before? My doctor said to see him in a month when he upped the dosage but do I need to go back sooner or is this normal? The mood swings I am now having is what bothers me most, depression is one thing, but when you're swinging from feeling high to feeling incredibly low I am worried about the stupid things I might do. Any advice you can give would be really appreciated  my doctor is hard to get in to but I will make the effort if I have to.

Thanks,

Hi Megan,

That feeling is truly not a good feeling to have is it?  I would think that it could be a normal reaction to cymbalta but again I am not sure - instead of calling to see your doctor could call and just ask if the doctor returns phone calls.

This link shows some serious side effects to cymbalta that you are having, look them over and make the decision to call your doctor as I would think that they are not side effects I would like to have and are not right.  The doctor may have increased your dose too much too fast.
