The Durham VA in North Carolina. If he told you that that's not the reason for you're pain he's not much of a specialist. I've had them covering my entire spine now for over 20 years. Most so called specialist don't know any more about them than we do. They don't live with the excruciating nerve pain that they cause. Numbness, burning ringing, stabbing sensations that are so bad they paralyse you. In my Lumbar spine I have two in some disks. Unfortunately they keep getting worse. I've got three disks in my spine that I blew out in the Navy on duty and two bulging disks. I have been through more abuse from doctors than anyone would ever believe. We have to rely on these idiots who decide to attach the word specialist on theyre title to tell us were not hurting.????? The best advise I can give you is to not stop looking up information about them. I drink a lot of water. Eat foods that are good for relieving swelling . My legs and feet also swell up if I don't take care and not keep them up. I try to put my feet above my heart and lay back every 30minutes about. Foods like beers, asparagus, rentals, broccoli. Look up organic lifestyle magazine on the internet. I lift weights but you have to remember not to over do it. The more lean muscle mass you have the harder it is for those nerves to fire. But I would check with your doctor about that suggestion before you try it. And unfortunately narcotics for the pain. That still didn't stop my legs from going numb and I fell on my face and broke my nose. That's what it took before they would even give me anything for the pain. Having dealt with this for over 20 years. I have somehow managed to be strong enough by the grace of God not to put my gun in my mouth and pull the trigger. You specialist doesn't know what he's talking about. I would suggest that he or she do some research...they are cysts directly on the nerve root in your spinal column. Of course they are going to cause central nervous system problems, peripheral nervous system and numbness. And for the benefit of your so called Dr. Mind f** king pain!!! . That's their answer for everything they don't know. Act like they do and tell you its all in your head because they don't know how to treat you. I'm still looking for a good neurologist. They tried to tell me for a long time it was muscular skeletal pain. I knew it wasn't!!! Don't give up! If I find a good doctor ill post their name and address. You have to take the bull by the horns and be tough. I research any healthy alternatives for nerve pain. There are a lot of things you can do to help yourself. Unfortunately controlling the excruciating pain has to fall back on your id**t physician. You need a better doctor. Some one with compassion if not knowledge about what you're going through. It just infuriates me the nerve they have calling themselves specialists. I will keep you in my prayers. These cysts have spread to other areas of my body as well. My thyroid, breasts, who knows where else. Doesn't really matter at this point.. they say its too soon for me to have surgery. You've got a long road ahead. I don't envy you that. But I've been there. Don't let them chalk you up as another drug addict or as a head case who is depressed and in a little muscular skeletal pain. NO! 20 long years I dealt with their ignorance before I realized. These assholes are just guessing. If they were in this much pain they'd be a little depressed about it once in a while themselves.

you are the first person who I have found that have them on other parts of your body other then the sacral area. I had 3 on the sacral and suffered 3 years which almost came to the same feeling of "gun in Mouth" and I did tell them the same thing that if they had that much pain they would be depressed too. I am now 54 but I was 50 when this started and I was in so much pain I went into the ER with my mother and tried to get them to admit me until they could figure out what was wrong with me and instead they told me they didn't do that and gave me a drug test like I was just in there looking for a fix. I can say that there were times that I felt like I would like to just be numb from the pain sometimes but that wasn't why I was there. I had surgery on 3 in my sacral nerves and have a plate there now that will desintegrate someday, my pain is not as great as it was, but I have now been diagnosed by MRI with one on my lumbar spine. I can not find where I found where this would affect with pain if symptomatic but my pain is so great in my mid back and nect as well as front legs, hips etc from the past ones. I have been trying to find out if this could be cancerous as looking up back cancer signs many are the same but there is no information related to tarlov cysts. Did yours start in a certain spot and move a specific direction and why are they telling you nothing can be done?
