I have had two seizures in my lifetime, about six months apart each. After the second one my neurologist put me on 400mg of dilantin a day.
I have lost my driving privilages because of these seizures and have been eagerly waiting to get them back. The neurologist sent a letter to the ministry of transportation stating that I have not had any seizures in over six months.
Before he would send it I had to take a blood test to check the dilantin levels in my blood. The letter says that the level is 37; there are no units of any sort following this, just a number.
My question is: is this an acceptable level for dilantin in the blood stream? Is there a good chance of me recieving my licence back after this?
Thank you for your time.

Hi
I have taken dilantin for 35 years. My level reached 112 which apparently is toxic and I was hardly able to walk.
My neurologist reduced the 600 mg per day to 450 mg per day and in a 3 week period my level dropped to 68.
The maximum is 80 apparently. I have stopped driving for a year on my own but will start after that time.
I would assume that you are seizure free for 6 months and I believe that is the time limit to regain your licence.
It would be the call of your neurologist to know the acceptable level for you.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
