i am 8 days post op laproscopic cholesytectomy, i have dissolvable stitches, how long before they start to dissolve?

It depends on what they are made of. Dissolvable stitches are made to last anywhere from a couple of weeks to 6 months, depending on what they are made of. I would venture to guess your stitches will be dissolved in 2 to 4 weeks.
