My boyfriend cut his thumb at work five months ago for the past three months hes had puss and stitches coming out of his thumb they cut out three so far but he has two more sticking out a lil bit he showed the doc and he acted like it wasnt a big deal and told him that the infection wasnt from the stitches but the hospital which makes me think staph infection but they said it wasnt staph he got put on antibiotics for his infection why are the stitches still in there and could that be part of whats causing the infection? Im very concerned that this is going to get worse and he might end up losing his thumb hes been to doctors through work but its not getting better what should we do?

Please go to another doctor for a second opinion. Preferably, you want to go to another doctor that has been reviewed by others on websites or by your peers before going so not to waste money and time. It is always good to have a second or even a third forth opinion. One doctor sometimes is just not enough since everyone requires a peer review. However, do not go to the other doctor and start naming names since you never know if that doctor has some kind of relationship with your current doctor.
