My little baby son is having problems with reflux. He is spitting up all the time. At first we have thought it is normal for the baby but when it continues crying all night and day we took him to the doctor. He has recommended Propulsid, but my wife has heard that it can cause some serious heart difficulties. So do babies need their hearts tested before taking Propulsid?

Many people have read that newspaper article that has issue a warning about Propulsid. They said that it may stop your heart. Unfortunately it is true. Generally Propulsid is approved only for adults use but it is used in children and infants therapy when there is no other choice. Your baby could take that test but his heart is probably healthy and that will tell you nothing. Problems start after Propulsid use. But I must say that it is not always the case. Side effects are not as common as people think, and deaths by medications are very rare.
