I was on the depo shot after my first baby for about two years and came off without any side effects. After having my second baby, however, I continued taking depo, I had water retention and elevated blood pressure so I had to stop after the first shot. I had severe knee pain which my doctor attributed to calcium deficiency and I was placed on calcium. Been taking the calcium for about a week and the pain is all gone.

I stopped having the depo about 8 weeks ago after being on it for 8 years, for the past 2-3 weeks I've had sore boobs, loss of appetite, back ache the first week and a half and twinges not very often in lower abdomen, not sleeping through the night, very achy legs like I used to get when Af was due! My cm has been odd lately, I'm sure I ovulated about a month ago then last week cm was creamy and thick and then changed to very watery (sorry tmi) now cm is very light but creamy/yellow in colour. Last time I came off the depo roughly 3 years ago I fell pregnant straight away which is why I'm worrying so much that I could be the low percentage of women who conceive quickly, me and my partner split up quite recently and now I don't know what to do, I've taken 2 pregnancy tests within the last 2 weeks both came back negative but because I was on the depo for about 8 years I don't actually know when my period is due and if I'm still testing to early. Last time I was pregnant I actually felt pregnant but this time I don't, even though I'm getting quite a few symptoms.

My last injection was due 18 Dec 15 never went back and my bleeding started the 29th and I've never stopped! Cramping horrific, to the point my doc is sending me for ultrasound scan! I'm positive its withdrawal from the injection, was on it for agss! I was worried I had cancer or something but symptoms only started once I stopped the depo! Is your appetite through the window? Do you have weird cramping sensations often then they'll go away for a while?? I'm fed up :(

I'm going through the EXACT same thing. My breasts are so swollen, I've gone up 2 full cup sizes, my stomach is so bloated I look pregnant & the nausea is out of control. This is exactly how I felt when I was pregnant but I know that I'm not. I'm only 1 week late for my shot. I've been on & off the shot for 19 years. Over the last year, the withdrawal symptoms start right at 10 weeks every time which is crazy because I'm not even late yet. It's absolutely awful. Once I get my shot, I go back to normal within a week. I'm not sure why this is happening before the shot is even due yet. Any ideas or similar experiences?

Yes, I was on depo for about 5 years, recently stopped (I was due for a shot about a week ago) first I thought I had CDiff diarrhea, my lower abdomen hurts like a BI***, lower back pain, bone pain, pooping within ten minutes of eating, no appetite, tired as hell, bags under my eyes.... I thought I had the flu, but it was lasting too long and the symptoms would come and go... It sounds really weird but EXERCISE has helped me to feel better. It even helped more than a ice packs, heating pad or advil or aleve or pepcid/pepto bismol/lactaid/gas-ex/ simethicone/ anti-diarrheals..... It takes a TON of energy to get my butt in the gym, but after I leave I feel much better.... But of course the symptoms return within hours. I hope these symptoms subside soon and I hope I can ride this out. I broke two bones within three months of each other this past summer, so that prompted me to quit the shot due to probable bone loss. Depo can be a blessing or a curse. Unfortunately, for me, it's been a curse. I don't recommend staying on it for long term EVER. And I plan to educate my patients on the withdraw symptoms as well as the long term effects of depo. (I am a new nurse practitioner)

I've been on depo for 14 years. I got my last shot 4 days ago, but it was late by 10 days because I couldn't get an earlier doctors appointment. At 8 days late o began experiencing tender breasts, abdominal cramping, bloating, and emotional issues. These symptoms have persisted now 4 days after I got my shot (I was not trying to come off of it). I freaked out, thought I was pregers, but I am not. I am however experiencing withal symptoms after being off the shot for only 10 days following 14 years of use... Do I have uber ovaries?

I've been on Depo for 15 years and my last shot was about 3 weeks late due to manufacturers unavailability. A few days ago I started with joint & muscle pain in my arms, shoulders, upper legs, knees and even my fingers. Has anyone else had this happen? I can't think of any other reason for this to just pop-up at 3pm on a Friday. I got my shot yesterday and am hoping I start feeling better soon or I'll have to call a doctor.

I had one and only one shot in October 2015, I did not go back for my second shot and it is now 30th April 16. Since March I have been experiencing nausea, breast tenderness, slight cramping but almost like flutters in my abdomen and frequent urination. My periods have still not returned. I am terrified that I am pregnant but I have not had unprotected sex as we used condoms after depo, and to my knowledge there was no accidents with the condom. However after I quit depo I was experiencing spotting/light bleeding, this was around the time I was having protected sex. I have taken about six pregnancy tests and they all have said negative (I don't know when my periods are so have been testing for the last month/s). Is this normal?

YES!! I have been on the depo for about 4 years now and I got my last shot January of 2016 and I have trouble sleeping, mood swings, bad anxiety and a ton of head aches. I even tried to take Aleve and nothing helps the head aches. I don't know what else to try to fix the symptoms.

How is everyone's symtoms after being off the depo now as i can see some of theses are from a year ago?
I was on the depo for 3 years which was no picnic! I regret being on it so long the only reason i stayed on it was 1. No period and 2. Not having to worry about contraception every time with my fiancée of 3 years. However everything else made me very miserable! Nausea, sweats,
Weightgain (4 stone) in 3 years, random stomach pain, increased anxiety which I already had before it but it increased to triple the amount i had it! The feeling as if i was pregnant, bloated all the time, acid everyday to the point its burning my throat the list goes on! Anyway i came off the depo i last had it in February 2016, was due 23rd may.. Ive been through more than i was while on it all of th above symptoms plus more and doubled :( plus insomnia started to the point id have no sleep and have to go to work at 5:30am without none. Thats eased slightly i now can have 5 hours of very broken sleep so not really 5 hours :/ I currently feel pregnant which im not ive done quite a number of test throughout being on and now ive stopped. Feel nauseous on and off throughout the day which worsens at night and im not th best person with dealing with that situation. Ive lost nearly a stone since not having it in may. I have no period yet however this past week ive had the feeling of starting but no showing yet. Please let me know how long its taken you guys or if your still suffering, i need a light at the end of the tunel the doctors are usless because on paper am healthy..

Hi I am so glad to find others going though the same things. I have had a horrible time after depo. I had unprotected sex 25 days ago and have been so afraid I was pregnant buy I have had a negative blood test and numerous negative pregnancy tests (urine). I have had hot flashes , nausea , breast tenderness, bloating, cramps and no bleeding. I have also had sweats throughout the day... the nausea has been horrific. I have almost gone crazy because of the fear of pregnancy. If I am truly not pregnant I am amazed at the chaos and aftermath of the depo shot. I am not a complainer and usually don't have side effects to anything but this has been horrible.

I had been on depo for 4 years, my last shot was also due in May. So far I have had sore breasts followed by a very light 5 day period in mid August, the breast soreness stopped when the period started & this past week my breasts have gotten extremely painful & heavy. I've been taking Ashwagandha to hopefully get my hormones back to normal quicker.

I was wondering if it has helped you .... I am not pregnant. ... I have had so many symptoms that it's ridiculous. .... nausea that hasa dr it hard to function, blue veins all in my chest , dizziness , hot flashes, a really foggy feeling in my head, pink spotting. I have taken a ton of pregnancy tests, had an untrasound due to the severe cramping, and two negative blood tests. It has completely mimicked pregnancy and seems to have triggered menapause with a vengeance. I have never experienced anything like this. I was the one who posted before you and you replied . I am desperately wanting to feel better. I have even had numbNess in my arms ,face and legs. It has been horrible.
