duragesic/ fentanyl withdrawl

Hi just a quick question. I am 34 and male. I have been on percocet 325/10 8 pills a day and 8 pills of 50 tramadol and 1 100 patch of duragesic brand for the last 4 years. I used to be strong, active and very hyper. For the last 3.5 years, I am exhausted, moody sometimes, tired all the time, and having somewhat breathing problems which I truly think is caused by the medications. My heart is great but sometimes, I think it is NOT due to the meds and the breathing issues. Anyone else have symptoms like these? thank you so much, ss in az.

I have been on fentanyl patches for 5 years now for nerve damage in my abdomen caused by internal bleeding during an ectopic pregnancy. I was originally on 50mcgs and reduced to 25mcgs to try and function better. I have also been on Oramorph, Amitriptyline and Gabapentin, but I recently found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant so I've stopped the Oramorph and Amitriptyline.
I'm going to try and reduce both my Gabapentin and Fentanyl, but as the pain is severe it is going to be hard. I've been through withdrawals before and I'm currently getting quite severe withdrawals from cutting out the Oramorph. My biggest concern is how these medications will effect my baby, does anyone have any experience with Fentanyl and pregnancy? Please help...

I have been on the 75 mcg patch for 2 years and quit cold turkey. It has been very nasty withdrawls. After in and out of soaking wet bed for a week I take 3 aspirins and 1 aleve, then after a couple hours eat a sandwich and drink 2 shots of vodka and go outside and try to stay in the sun and walk around and keep your mind off of yourself and try to occupy yourself out there. I am feeling through the woods and its been a week and a half and I am still a little fatigued and shakey but it will wear-off just keep hacking away. I never thought stopping that patch would be this nasty but it is really an eye opener about that patch. It sure didn't feel like it would be this bad when I started using it. I was on the 75mcg for around 2 years and started to abuse them because of my pain and wanted to coldturkey and it was the hardest thing ive done. I sarted to cut half of the patch of and chewed it it certanly got rid of the pain but after a while and used up 5 patches i soon new how mutch of a big mistake i made hot and cold sweats rocking back and fourth not sleeping. I went back to my doctor and asked for more telling him that the pain was getting worse witch it was he went on to say that this is a class A substance and is highly illegal on the sreets i thaught to my self the last thing in the world is me selling them i need them i told him then i said im thinking of going cold turkey his exact words were "this drug he said think of it being blood your body needs it in order to survive now your body thinks that the drug is part of it and if you lose too mutch blood your organs can fail and you will go into shock or renal failure you can fit your heart can give out there are all sorts of possabiltys please dont do this let me bring you down of them slowly on to tramadol or dyhidrocodeane" .I said can i cut peaces of them he said no sertanly not.I did tho it was agonising torture the first 3 days are the worst by the 6th day its no where kneer as bad but i went back to my doctor told him he said i want full bloods of you to check how your system has handled this 3 days later he called me asked me to come in. he said against all my advice you went ahead and done this you now have sirrosis of your liver did you drink any alcohol whylst cold tukeying no i said just vitamins he said you neerly went into renal shock i can treat you for this but you have done this to your self no more alcohol or paracetamol codeane or anything just water and the medication i prescribe you ok daft lad i lafed and said im going to write this on the internet and tell every one not to do this he said the best idea youve had yet. So i would not advise any one to cold turkey listen to your doc thay know but can not understand your pain as well as i can. Hope this is a help.

%-) I have been on the 100mcg and 50mcg Duagesic pain patches for around 8 years,I had the same doctor for 13 years and he recently stopped seein me I went to another doctor which did not believe that I should be on this med and told me he would not see me so I called my other doctor and told him i only have one 72 hour supply left and what should I do he was no help they told me to stay calm and take tylenol to ease the pain thats b/s if tylenol helped i would have never needed the patches to begin with,anyhow so i have to just stop on my own im very scared I have heart problems and i am wondering what all is going to happen to me and since you've been thew this can you help please and thank you. May I start with some advice and a little tip. since my last posting I have undergone some major surgery to a terrible consaquence, it was not due to my cold turkey but to a nasty injury and so once againe I have found my self having to take fentanyl witch im now finding very usefull to the extent of a very closeley monterd by my dr and bloods are taken 2 times a week. further more to your posting I did ask my dr for you and he said that "some one with heart problems is a problem because of the natural tendansy of fentanyl to increase heart beats and also thay could be fluxuations in blood pressure but as this person is being moterd by a dr he or she should be in good hands. with reguards to coming down off the patches its not my patient and I have no idea to what the persons cardiac problems are in any event no one should cold turkey as we know in some cases it causes more problems than its worth my advice to any person is to do as directed by your doctor he or she will make it easey on your self and your health. My tip is to be very carefull and certinaly do not attend a detox center as it is dangerous to prople with heart or cardiac problems". further more my liver is making a remarkable come back my ezimes are returning to normal and l.f.u's are showing good sighns of recovering but it will be easey to cause sirrosis if im not carefull.

Help I am 54 year old woman and I have been on fentanyl 225 mcg every 36 hours for 12 years. I have had 26 surgeries and I had 5 biggies on my back. My last surgery was a 7 hour surgery with many problems and complication. The one thing all of us is a way to go off with so very few sideffects. Due to the economy and the price of the patch, 6000.00 per month. Thank god that I only have to pay 40.00 dollars per month. Unfortunately with a cost 1011.00 per month for insurance, which will have to go away in a month and a half. I am scared of what is to come. After reading all posts I am REALLY scared. Are there any drugs other than methadone to help your addiction taper off. I went into withdrawal on some defective patch, I have never felt anything close to this and I have feared the future. Please I NEED suggestions Please!!!!! :'(

even at the tiny 12 mg the withdrawals are horrendous. My patch detached while swimming and i didn't replace it until late in the night when my limbs began to jump &twitch . It is now 5am and I haven't slept despite being totally tired. >;)

By taking 8 to 10 tablets of Imodium AD (which is a weak synthetic narcotic), I was able to bypass withdrawal symptoms of hydrocodone interruption.  As I understand it, Imodium AD will not pass the brain barrier to get pain relief or euphoria, but it will strongly mitigate (and possibly completely eliminate) all withdrawal symptoms.  I felt 300% better, calmer, at peace, within an hour of taking six tablets, on my third day of painkiller withdrawal.  After that, I took more Imodium AD every other day for about five to seven days as symptoms came up, and weaned off both hydrocodone and the less strong Imodium.  Can't remember any withdrawal symptoms that weren't easily treated within an hour

Can you find-send me fentanyl patches?I need them and in greece are given only for cancer patients.
