Sorry, I live in California. Too bad, I would love to be part of a lawsuit.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. My husband was on Effexor for 8 years. He was getting worse and worse with the drinking and depression and stress (no rest, etc.). Luckily, I finally connected the dots back to the start of Effexor. Also fortunately, I learned the need for a very slow withdrawal. Even so, after one drop of the dose (about 10%, down to the 37.5 mg capsule--we take beads out of the capsules to take smaller and smaller drops in dose), he was in a weird state and told me he thought I ought to hide our guns. I know how bad it had to be for him to say that.
I wish I knew how we could connect with each other on THIS site, but moderators quickly delete email addresses, names, and such. There is a site online that is helpful for both sides of the equation (those on or withdrawing from the med, those off and experiencing side-effects, and spouses of those going through it, and "victims" of the ruined relationships brought about by this med). Please google for more information, for forums, for discussions of SSRIs, for anti-depressants......after all, one person's Effexor is another person's Paxil. Try googling surviving antidepressants. You'll find some people that at least know what you're going through.

Thank you for your thoughtful and caring response. I have spent extensive time on Google and researching my situation and have definitely come to the conclusion that I have irreversible brain changes. I suffer everyday and try hard to accept the life I have, now managing things with Ritalin and other medications. But I will never be the same.

Any antihistamine reduces the vertigo sensations. I can look from left-to-right and feel like I've done a full flip. --24hours since 300mg

It sounds as though you should see a neurologist. A few of the symptoms described are alarming.

Thanks. I did. It was useless and I don't think he even believed me when I told him my problems were from severe long term withdrawal problems from going off 15 years of Effexor.

I'm very aware of the current facts regarding titration recommendations and withdrawal symptoms possible when coming off of Effexor. However, many doctors have not not satisfactory research regarding irreversible brain changes and other damage caused to people coming off of long term Efexor use. I highly recommend you inform yourself regarding the work of Dr. Peter Breggin and Dr. Stuart Shipko, who states about the necessity for more research in this area. I also recommend reading various blogs extensively regarding the individuals who have suffered from permanent brain changes and have had their lives ruined from having used this drug. I lost my life as I'd known it 4 1/2 years ago from this nightmare drug withdrawal and live in daily hell. I only stay alive because I have 2 college aged children. Otherwise I'd have killed myself by now. And I was never suicidal like this in my life before coming off of Effexor in August 2014.

I am new to this and not sure if I am even doing this right. Weaning off Effexor after 12 years on the max dose has ruined my life. I have severe body pain, which the rheumatologist told me today that the Effexor may have been masking the fibromyalgia symptoms. Long story short, I am looking for a class action suit to be a part of. This drug needs to have major warnings attached.

Does ANYONE have head pressure/Fullness? Have had it for three years now, no docs can help me. Was on Effexor for 10 years, tried numerous others, now on 50mg Desvenlafaxine?

It's the side effects/damage from using Effexor/Venlafaxine (both are the same drug) and we should all stop taking these types of so called medications VERY, VERY! slowly over a long period of time.
No doctors should ever prescribe these type of drugs.

Before I started taking Effexor I had a good job and my life was together, after taking it for a few years I quit my job and decided to live in a tent. It gave me horribly morbid nightmares. Ruined my life.
