I have been having bad periods for the last year or so. Not heavy but just dark clots. About 2 months ago I noticed a small knot in my lower stomach. It has gotten larger over the last couple of weeks. Went to the Dr on Monday and did a pap test. Said that my uterus was enlarged and that she thought I had a fibroid tumor about the size of a golf ball on top of my uterus. I have lots of cramping, lower back pain and leg pain. Can someone please advise on any information on what this could be. Blood work was done and waiting on results. Haven't slept in two days worrying.

Hey tracy. Well, in my opinion, this is just a common case of fibroids because all the symptoms you have explained to us suggest on that. Fibroids are main cause of enlarged uterus and I can only presume that it is very awkward for you right now. But, you shouldn't be worried because fibroids are not life threatening because they are the most common benign form of tumor. In average, every fifth-third woman has them, so that's nothing to be worried about. But, the symptoms might be annoying and painful and disgusting. So, if it's small, the doctor will overlook it, but if it's very large, there's a treatment of removal.
