Thank you Just me. But am I the only man who used to get such a relaxed feeling after an orgasm? I don't understand why my brain does not still release those "relaxation" chemicals. I am still having an orgasm. I understand what you are saying to me. And I think you are a wise man. My wife has been a rock through this also and it has brought us closer together. And this is not easy for her now. However, I am a hyper person. And that endorphin release was like a natural tranquilzer for me. Now I find myself getting more and more restless and the orgasms seem to make it worse. They feel fine except for the calm after. I actually get more hyper after. And 2 hours later I feel like I never had one. . Like I am stuck in high gear. I wish someone would have told me this calmness would not accompany a "dry" orgasm before I had the surgery. I would of rather had a catheter. I am a unhappy the doctor did not explain more about what "retrograde really was. Thanks for your kind words. But I guess you are telling me the "calm" feeling after does not come back.

JUST ME,
I tried to respond to your post also. It was there and now it's gone? In don't know what is happening. I will try again your words are very wise and kind. I can tell you are a good person. But my main question is will I ever get that calm euphoric peaceful feeling that comes after an orgasm again? Will it come back or is it gone forever? I sure hope not. It will not stop me from loving my wife but I will be very sad if it is gone forever.

Hi jwb43
As I stated , Your brain is the most important sex organ we have. Im sure with your concerns over the surgery it has muddied the water for you. Give it time,
Im quite sure the issue I had with delayed ejaculation was due to the same kind of reasoning.
As a pilot I learned a very valuable lesson . I was getting ready to land ,when I spotted a large hawk flying in the traffic pattern. Thinking to my self, I sure dont want to hit him! I kept watching him and I am sure he kept watching me . Sure enough I hit him! I could have gone anywhere, up, down , turned around , I mean any where! Yet I still hit him . Why ? I was to focused on where I didnt want to go and not on where I wanted to go. I did land the plane safely but it took all the skill I had to do it. Lesson learned .
Keep your eye on your Bride ! Dont focus on your prostate . Things will get better .
Keep in touch
In my prayers

Just Me,
I like the way you teach in parables. But I am a simple guy. Just let me ask this one question. Did you get that euphoric calm feeling after an orgasm before your surgery? And do you still get it now? I just need hope if there is any to be had. Please

I did get the feeling before the surgery . and I get it now. As I said My first orgasm was nothing to brag about. It does improve with time and healing . Your stress over this is taking the calm away . I dont think it is the surgery.
Give your Dr a call and talk it over with him or the nurse. I had a lot of questions for my Drs nurse.

I did some research on your question . Do a google search on the hormone Prolactin. It is from the pituitary gland . It is responsible for that relaxation we experience after orgasm. Look into it . The research should calm your fears. Be sure to ask your DR. Dont be embarrassed to ask. Most Drs are Glad when their patients participate in their own care.

God Bless you my friend. Your response gives me such needed hope. I hope it does not take to long to get that feeling back or that my case is different. Without it I am very hyper and restless. I put a call into my doctor and he says he will need to do some case research because he do not know why this is happening. That does not fill me with confidence. He should know what is going on since he has done thousands of these. Thanks for your reply and fpr keeping me in your prayers.

If you are considering prostrate surgery please contact me first. I have done tons of research I can share and there is a lot the doctors will not tell you. If I could do it over I would take a different route. I am very unhappy with my decision to have HoLEP. And very unhappy with the lack of information the doctors at the Mayo clinic provided prior to the surgery mainly regarding Retrograde Ejaculation. You want to avoid it if at all possible.

hi jw
I am following your predicament and hope you get back what you are missing soon. I am considering holep for myself and would be very grateful for information. I have appointment scheduled with Mitchell R. Humphreys at Mayo Arizona

Hi had surgery with DR. H at Mayo on 6/12/13 and have had great results. The Hospital could not be more caring and stayed overnight and next day after catheter came out went home. Had blood in urine for about 4 days and only on pain pills for 4 days.
I went from retaining 600 ML of urine after I peed to only 7 ML after my recent f/up exam. Hoo Rah!!
Any questions please let me know

Sleepless,
I tried to post last night and I cannot see it on here. I would like to find a way to communicate with you without the restrictions of this forum. But I don't know how to leave you info without getting censored. I had surgery with Humphreys also. I would really like to share my experiences with you before you have your surgery. I don't think we can put e-mail addresses or personal info.

Hi Sleepless: I can't tell you whaty a big change the HoLep made in my life. Sure, I didn't know up front that I might need to wear a shield for 4-6 weeks after surgery but, boy did that time go quickly. And it wasn't really an inconvience. I never "lost it" but the shields were there. I was back to normal in about 4 months. That's completely normal. Up ONE time at most at night and that's if I have coffee after dinner.
