You should not be eating seeds or nuts at all after this surgery!

I just had a hemmroihdectomy 2 weeks ago tomorrow, and while I still feel discomfort after a bowel movement, and just in general, the pain was no where near as bad as what I've read on some of these sites.

I had a terrible reaction to the vicoden I was prescribed and stopped taking at 7 pm the night of my surgery (the surgery itself was done at 7am). The next day I didn't take the over the counter IBprofen I was told to get until about 3pm that afternoon, nor did I ever take a single Tramadol that the doctor's office called in. Hopefully this can ease someone's mind about the pain involved in this surgery.

I am a 37 year old female, that had several external hemmroihds removed and an internal fissure repaired. As I said, it's been nearly two weeks now and while their is still discomfort, and I sometimes take a few IBprofen, I never took any narcotic painkillers minus the first day. It feels like there is a lot of pressure, and there is definitely swelling around my anus that resembles tiny hemmroihds around my anus (which does concern me but the doctor's office told me it can take 6 months to go away). But, so far, my surgery results other than the swelling, are very good. There is very little bleeding during bowel movements.

I wish anyone about to undergo this surgery the best of luck. Taking Colace several times a day until the first bowel movement is definitely wise; as well as sitting in that bowl they give you for sitz baths. Put as hot of water as you can stand and sit in it when you have the urge to have a bowel movement as this will really help.

In general, the worst part of this process has been the itching that results from the healing process. The pain is very manageable. I took two 200 mg IBprofen 4 times a day for probably a week, and now just as needed for discomfort.

God bless.

I have 2 externals at the bottom area, the typical area they form at.Actually,I think they are skin tags. They don't hurt or bleed. They do cause some discomfort against clothing and get hot often.Should I have them surgically removed? From what I gather the only option is the for this, which is a bummer.I wish they could inject them or IR them or something but the only option is to cut them and stitch them from what I've read.Is this correct?Seems extreme for skin tags. They might be pre -external hemms though.Doesn't make sense to me to just let them sit there and get worse, but would I be in for much worse after getting surgery?

Also,it's embarrassing during sex,but would it look even worse after surgery?I'm hoping it will all be gone,no scarring and look OK.Am I hoping for too much. Thanks

Hi all.. I had surgery last week the 21st and had 3 large hemmoroids removed.. The surgeon told me that they were very large and I stayed over night in hospital. He also said that I would be in very bad pain for the following 4-6 weeks as bending, walking, bowel movements all inflame the area. Almost a week on I woke up on Tuesday in absolute agony! I could not walk, lay or sit down. It was horrific! I noticed a huge swell the size of an orange segment on the behind followed by one the size of grape. I was so upset and actually ended up soiling myself that night due to the laxatives I was on. The following day the pain was so unbareable I went to my local gp where he examined me and sent me into casualty. A member of the team saw me and said that the swelling was normal and that I was to stay in bed for 3 days with minimal movement. I am on tradol, difine, solpadiene, instillagel (local anasthetic gel) and 2 type of stool softeners!!! And arill find it uncomfortable. I am due back next Wednesday and if things have not improved they will take me back in for further surgery!! It has been an awful experience and I wish I had have left it all alone. I hope I've seen the worst of it and things pick up soon! Has anyone had a similar experience or is mine just a total disaster? I'm only 23 years of age and this is not what I expected
