6 days post surgery (11/7/2016). Pain level is tolerable with 2 tylenol every 6 hours. My concern came with day 4 and no BM. Called dr and he had me take miralax in addition to the dulcolax, metamucil and valium. Next morning...nothing! Called dr again. This time he stopped the miralax and added a bottle of magnesium citrate (saline laxative). 5 hours later...success! Thinking i was progressing nicely started my normal food intake. Mistake (too many carbs)! Here i sit at 3am very uncomfortable, waiting for mornng so hubby can go back for more magnesium citrate. Will be changing what i eat seeing one of the earlier posts about what they ate. I'm not a huge veggie/fruit person. Also just ordered the squatty potty stool. Hoping this will help. I don't return to work until early December so i'm hoping to have the minor pain/BM under control. Praying things go smoothly from here on out.

Oh dear God. My surgery is tomorrow morning. These responses have made me so paranoid, I am in a fit of terror. I will still use whatever I've learned here to make things, better. Isn't there a topical anesthetic one can use ? I've even considered the bad tooth anesthetic. Why wouldn't it work ? Just for the " movement " anybody try this ?

Thanks for what you wrote. I had mine today aboutnoon. Home at 4:30 and being home sure helps how I feel. Exterior only however Dr had to go inside a little to get it all. As for now not much pain possibly a little discomfort but I would expect that. I have had lot of chew soft ice and glad I have that. Had some noodle soup but didn't eat a lot of muddles mostly broth. Had some orange Sherbrt. all together I I had a pretty small amount of food. needed some after 36 hrs no food plus the clean out stuff so my system was needing a little food. I am actually feeling pretty fair. No pain med yet but I have them if needed. I normally tolerate things pretty good and sure hope I can now. I admit I'm apprehensive about a BM but willhave to deal with it. If this reply to Guest posting helps anyone it's worth my time.

Have you tried making smoothies in a nutribullet blender. Kefir , water, pineapple and fresh kale is delicious. My surgery is in March . I'm so scared.

I just had my surgery this past thursday, and I wish I would have done more research on how to take care of this post surgery...it has been a nightmare I just had 2 bm a couple of hours ago and passed out twice trough out the process thankfully my husband was there to help me out. Warm baths have been helpful and I now try the squat position to go to the bathroom in the shower while warm water is running. I am glad I read some of the advises given here. Lots of fluids no solids and I hope to get over this pain soon

New hospital (private!) at Kawana Waters Queensland. Wouldn't give me any information on phone AT ALL re husband, P.C. gone over the top. No pain relief, no wheel chair They give you nothing and tell you nothing, rude, uncaring, AND I got booked picking up my husband.!!! Make sure you go to another hospital.
