I had a freak car accident and it left my right side buttock with a hematoma. Saw Dr and he said give it 4-6 weeks then come back if not improving. Bruising has gone but still have this huge lump, so he felt around and said it needed to be drained but by ultra sound guided procudure. So tomorrow i go to radiologist facility and hope this drains it and finally get back to a normal back side. The pain is awful and nothing fits right. They say it's a simple procedure. Hope so cause i'm solo and driving self...

I found a lump 2 weeks ago and went to the doctor, after ultrasounds they told me it was a haematoma caused from my c-section, it's an inch or 2 higher then my scar, but they said the tool the use to stretch me open might have caught and torn something.said it was nothing to worry about its common ....My csection was 3.5 years ago....After reading this post I'm confused and worried. I haven't had any accidents or trauma. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if it was for years, my partner said he would have noticed it too.... So should I go to another doctor and get more tests or is there a chance it is a 3 year old haematoma I never noticed?

5 months ago I fell off my bucking horse and her back leg/hoof landed on the back of my left thigh after I hit the ground front on.

After 4 months of total numbness and constant pain I got it checked and was told it was only a hematoma.. They also told me if it was causing me discomfort I could get it sucked out but it took a matter of persuading my mum just to get it checked and she doesn't see enough reason to go through with the operation and I don't know enough about hematomas to be able to say it should be sucked out, what should I do???

I had hip surgery about 4 months ago and I developed a large inflammed/swelling in my left hip. When I was going to P. T. My physical Therapist tried to work it out but every time she would work on it I was in excruciating pain so much I couldn't even walk on it at all. It's been 4 months now and I'm still walking on a cane.. Of course I was on Medical Leave for 11 weeks & I'm back at work partime,,,, When I went to the Dr. After a week after Surgery & i told him how much it was hurting and it was swelling he did an Ex - Ray of my hip he said it was Severe Arthritis.. when I went back after being on Full Weight bearing for 6 weeks I told him how much it was still hurting me and it was very difficult to walk he examined me and told me to put heat &Ice on it 3 to 4 times a day... After doing this the whole weekend I find that the heat made it become stiff &even more painfull. The Dr. Said that if it didn't help within 1 month that he would X-ray it & Ultrasound it and find out what it is... He said that it was either A Hematoma or it was Severe Arthritis..I have missed another day of work & I know that my work is getting tired of me taking off and if I don't work at least 32 hours I can't keep my Insurance.. Anyway what I wanted to tell the writer before this entry was. I have a bad Neck injury and I see a Neurologist/Pain Dr. And he told me if I was still in pain after 3 to 4 months he could do a procedure called a Rhino to my where he relieves those Nerves affecting that area but my Orthopedic Dr said he needs to find out what is causing all of the swelling first..I hope this helps you a little bit.....

Hello, I have one now that has been on my left glute area for 3 years now. I fell down a flight of stairs and this was the result. I went to my GP and he brushed me off. I went to the emergency room they brushed me off also. Finally my GP sent me for an ultrasound and they said it was nothing. I however was in constant pain and discomfort. While visiting my dermatologist I mentioned it to him and at first he rushed me off also. I realized I would have to make a fuss and stomp my feet to get results and be taken seriously. I looked up symptoms of a hematoma...which some I did have. I let him know that I was in constant discomfort with occasional shooting pain that had begun to linger longer and longer. They'll ask what causing the onset of the pain? Tell them just sitting watching tv a pain at the site can shoot through. Normal activity can cause pain and sometimes doing nothing brings it on and that's what concerns you. After all of that finally I was sent for an MRI...finally they see that I'm not crazy and finally it's being taken care of this week!!!!! You will really have to be a nag, demanding and insistent about your problem. Also, if they see that you keep coming back about the same issue they'll start to think its serious. And also very important tell them you think it increased in size. Hope all works out and keep trying.

I'm very nervous cause this type of procedure has never been performed! I was wondering if the drain procedure hurts or causes more pain! My life has been affected a great deal! I can't sleep the fluid is pushing against my syatic nerve which causes pain everywhere !!

Hematomas are blood-filled..I had an injury hematoma on my foot for years and finally decided to see a Podiatrist. He referred me to a vascular surgeon. My vascular surgeon will be removing it in a couple weeks.

I have a medium size bump or bluge on my right cheek.  I had botox done for twicking of my eye. It has been three years and it is stil not gone. The doctor hit a blood vessel while doing the procedure.  It does not hurt but it looks terriable.

I suffered with one to my right hip due to a fall from a horse. The doctor at a low income clinic wouldn't do s***! They tolad me they would NOT send me for x rays because I couldn't afford them. Well, I was not aware that I suffered a concussion from that fall even though I was wearing a helmet, AND I fractured L-3 as well. The swelling went on and on, and it got to the point that I was suicidal and taking 800 mg of ibuprofin in am, and again at three pm. I was also not aware that I had sepsis running thru my system as well. Well, I did have money saved and used it to get the ultrasound, and the MRI done. Got sent to have radiology drain it...didn't turn out so well. Turned out it was not 4 inches deep. It was 9 inches deep. The drain wouldn't drain at home, and radiology finally took it out. Then I developed severe cold chills and a horrible headache that lasted over a week. I KNEW something was wrong. I went to the ER and they ran two more cat scans. One of my head, and another of my rt hip....turned out I had severe sepsis due to that hematoma that a so called Dr at a low income clinic just ignored....I wondered why I was always calling into work sick...I really did feel like c**p for 8 months... Didn't feel well for months, even though I went back to work 4 days after the accident not aware that I had fractured L-3. I don't know how I managed to go to work. So, the ER ended up ambulancing me to the downtown hospital, and was rushed straight into surgery. I was in the hospital for 16 days, underw ent 5 surgeries, had a wound vac, then developed E Coli. , and a staph infection in addition to the sepsis that I was already fighting. Then I almost lost my leg at the rt hip....the Dr said had I not come in when I did, I WOULD have lost it. Oh, and I had to learn with PT HOW to walk again. After I got out, I had to have a sixth surgery for a skin graft to close the wound. Now THAT was painful....felt like they dumped alcohol on an open wound for three days. So, a few years later and I am fine. The road to recovery was long, I had to work thru ptsd, and a lot if emotional worries, but I am okay now. The bottom line is do NOT put this hematoma situation any longer. You keep doctor shopping until you find someone who will do something about it. I learned the hard way. And yes, I had all of the discomfort and misery that you are going thru. It is awful I know. Hope you are doing better now.

I developed a heamatoma in my lower abdomen after a c section 5 weeks ago. It is 18cm long and 12mm deep. The pain and size hasn't improved at all. I can't afford to get it drained, is there anything I can do to help it heal? I'm struggling to look after my disabled husband, 4 year old and newborn.

I fell on icy, frozen bricks. I went to the ER.  No fractures.  I was told to put ice on the swollen area. I was given two prescriptions, one for inflammation and pain and the other for just pain.  I am a teacher. I have not been able to sit, to drive, or return to work.  I went back for another check up to rule out infection.  No infection, but I was advised to see a surgeon if the swelling took the form of something like a balloon with water in it.  I need help.  Do I insist on getting it drained so that I can sit? work? drive?  I'm in pain and I must support my family.  All suggestions welcomed.
