I might have hemolytic anemia and have been told that I have to do the coombs test. I really don't know what this is, and I am hoping someone else can talk me through it so that I am prepared when I am going through it, next week. I am looking forward to hearing from you - thanks for your help.

A direct coombs test is used to see whether or so called complement system factors have bound to RFC surface antigens. If your coombs test is positive then it normally means that you have a form of hemolytic anemia that is autoimmune. It is a simple test on your part - it is the lab that does the work :-). Good luck!
