I have read something about genetic research lately and I have heard that ankylosing spondylitis is probably caused by a genetic marker that is referred to as HLA B27. Apparently, as much as... was it 97 per cent? of people who have ankylosing spondylitis carry this genetic marker. Can you tell me more about how this works?

genetic research in the context of diseases, or in any context at all really, is a relatively new thing. I am convinced that more and more diseases will be researched in the future, and cures will be found for them. In this case, ankylosing spondylitis, the relevant markers have already been found. In the future, we can work on preventing these from occurring in the body.
