I found out i had chlamydia yesterday and took out my medication today they gave me 4 pills too take all at once and i did as read. They told me go to back in 3 weeks to get retested. Does it really cure it?

Hi I'm a female who had recently caught chlamydia in October last year, i just found out in December that I had tested positive for chlamydia, I got my prescribition for metronidazole and doxycycline, I had taken them for two weeks and have finished my tablets last week Thursday. A few days later I had bad abdominal pain, stitches along my lower stomach area, its very uncomfortable also with back pain. I went to the doctor but they put me back on the 2 week medication, but I don't have any symptoms just stomach pain & stitches. Please help I'm not sure whether i would still have chlamydia or its something else? I've also taken a pregnancy test and its negative.. Any suggestions on what else it could be coz my doctor doesn't seem to understand? :/

The recommended treatment is 1 g, (usually 4 pills of 250 mg). You take them all at once and if you don't vomit them up within 1 hour the treatment is sufficient. Your partner(s) need to be treated as well, so its good to do it at the same time. It is recommended that you use condoms or avoid sex for 1 week after you take the pills. You can go back in 4 weeks for another urine test to make sure that the infection has gone away. Hope that helps
