Hi all,
When I sneeze, it hurts like my veins have been filled with hot water, especially in my groin, armpits and inner elbows. I have tried sneezing through both nose and mouth to see which one is worse but they both produce the same pain. Sometimes it is so bad that when I'm driving, I have to stop the car from the pain for a few seconds. Does anyone know what it is?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
It sound like you are going to have a cold. It hurts me when I'm sneezing only day or two before I get a cold. I try to use it as a early warning system and try to prevent my self from being sick. It does not work always, but it can help mitigate the pain and suffering from being sick.
How long do you have thees kind of sneezes???

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I have been having these pains when I sneeze for about ten years now. I sneeze because of dust where I live and am nowhere near a cold I don't think. I sneeze probably once a week on average.

niixen,
A lot of aches and pains like the ones you are experiencing can be a symptom of overall poor health. How is your diet, exercise and sleep routines? How is your height and weight? Most ALL medical problems are a result of poor stewardship of the body.

It is not repeated aches and pains, just when I sneeze for a minute or so, but it hurts like 'ell when I do. i sleep well weigh 90kg's and am 6ft tall.

niixen, that sounds really strange to me! I'm assuming that you're posting here first before seeing a doctor to see if it's really a serious problem? I think that it sounds awfully unusual, and I think it might be worth mentioning to your physician after you go in for your next physical. I have sneezed painfully like that in the past, but I usually have some health problem associated with it like getting a cold or severe allergies. Perhaps you have been suffering from severe allergies for the past ten years? A physician could do an allergenic test to find out. What do you think?

Niixen, If you ever find the answer please let me know. I have been going through the same thing. When I sneeze and I do not sneeze that often (Thanks the maker or who ever) I sneeze hard and I get a pain in my face, and then pain that I can't describe in my armpits, down my arms, and in my groin area down my legs to my knees. I swear one of these days I'm going to injury my neck and back more then I have already. And to those that will ask. I was having this pain well before I injured my back or neck.

Hey man, I have the same issue. I discussed it with my doc, I dont have high blood pressure, and I dont have any other major ailments. I tend to crack my neck a lot, I played football in high school and took several bad hits. This is what led to the discovery that I have a bulging disc in my neck. If I sleep funny or use too many pillows, my neck creaks sometimes the next day. This particular disc controls the nerves that run through your armpit and inner elbow. When you contract for a sneeze, it is contracting on the nerve. DONT go to a chiropractor, go to a licensed doctor and get an xray. If its the case, a few muscle relaxers and some neck exercises can make a world of difference, and I dont have the pain when i sneeze anymore.

If the pain you decribe is what I think, then the pain is caused by pinched nerves in your spine. When you sneeze and this happens, you probabaly were in a position that with combination of the sneezing movement of your head (and torso) caused a nerve pinch in your spine. That means the pain is just in your head and also that you can try to avoid it by blocking the spontaneous movement that accompanies sneezing.
But that's just one of the possible explanations.
