sometimes when i try to wear tampons it really really hurts, sometimes it hurts so much i just stop trying to put it on and go for the pads, im a virgin and i was thinking that if tampons are small and they still manage to hurt me doesnt this mean that when i lose my virginity it will hurt a lot more? and maybe ill be incapable of doing it

Are you sure you are doin it correctly? I dont use tampons my self becuase i can never seem to get them in far enough, but my frend who is a virgin says she puts vasaline of the tampon to help it go in more easy. Sorry i cnt be more help but give it a try

Plz don't listen to the vaseline advice!!! Using vaseline as a form of lubrication to either to insert a tampon or for any other reason is not advisable! It can help to promote infections...If you're having pain using tampons, it's most likely that you need to relax. Follow the instructions on the box carefully. You should be sitting or squatting if you're a new user. Secondly, all you need to insert of the applicator is the tip until you feel it just barely at the vaginal wall, not all the way in. the applicator does the rest of the work for you. When it clicks in place, the only thing that you should feel exposed is the string, not the cotton part of the tampon. If you are experiencing pain, it is most likely due to it not being inserted properly, that is not high enough. Don't give up, they will work...again you just need to relax...take your time, make sure you position it correctly, and insert according to the directions. I personally like Tampax Compax, if you have a thin frame they come in slim fits as well which may be good if you're a new user...Good Luck, and trust me once you use tampons you wont want to go back to just pads! There's no ucky feeling!

Your hymen, the membrane of your virginity, is blocking the tampon. When you try to insert the tampon, you are stretching the hymen. If you continue, you will break the hymen and will not longer be a virgin. It's not worth it! Stay intact and be proud of it.

What bbfeet9 writes is obviously nonsensical. This is the theory that a girl is a virgin no matter what happens until a penis enters her vagina. Under that theory, a girl who masturbates with a plastic penis (a dildo) or some other object, or with her fingers, and ruptures her hymen doing is, will still be a virgin. That can't be. You are a virgin if, and only if, your hymen is intact with the normal small opening.

I do not believe in sex before marriage. Sex is an incredibly wonderful thing. A gift given, to be experienced between husband and wife. A TAMPON HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! And yes, I am screaming, because how dare anyone scare a girl that is trying to deal with the awful pain and hassle that comes to us all once a month with the thought that she is no longer a virgin because she make break her hymen inserting a piece of cotton! Talk to your gynecologist. I found this thread because I too, am all of a sudden experiencing pain. Believe me....I am no virgin....it probably has nothing to do with your hymen....I lost mine 16 years ago on my wedding night!

First of all, there is no medical condition associated with losing your virginity. As far as your hymen goes, it is a thin layer of skin with a hole in it. When you have your period, the blood goes through the hole. Tampons can fit through it, as well, and although the hymen may stretch, it won't "break."

Also, breaking your hymen isn't always associated with losing your virginity.
