Im 18, i was diagnosed with this around 4 months ago. My levels were at over 150. I am on 250 mcg of Synthroid/ Levothyroxine.

I had all the classic symptoms.
Lately ive been loosing so much hair. Im sooo irratable, cranky, mean hateful and emotional. Im also not sleeping well. I know what my doctors going to say "Erica this is your body reacting to your medicine you dont know what normal is yet" No. If i have to cry constantly, and be mean and jump down peoples throats all the time, I dont want to be normal. I want to be the old me. I just dont know what to do. I honestly cry over so much, and just jump at people over the slightest thing. Im not comfortable being myself. It hurts. I just wanted some advice if you had any. Thank you <3

I was the same way.....always jumping down other's throats. I was miserable and so was everyone around me. I had to start (against my wishes) taking an anti-depressant. It helped tremendously.
You may want to ask your doctor about it.

same in here! I think that I am in some kind of depression because of this. I am using a Synthroid as well for a couple of months, five or six to be precise, and I was really scared when I started to have all of those headaches and sleeping problems. Also, I was very nervous and even a little thing was bothering me. I was fighting with my friends all the time but they were able to understand since they do know that I have this issue and underactive thyroid issues as well. I know that, whenever they find something that can be helpful, they call me immediately. Generally, side - effects are very, very common when you are taking those pills.

No. After trying several different types of anti depressents I found Paxil CR ( I currently take 25mg but started at 10mg of regular Paxil 15 yrs ago) worked best for me. As you see I never had to take a high dosage and have not had to increase it very much over a long period of time. Several times I've had this great idea, lol, to wean myself off of it. I found that when I do I start becoming iratible again and start taking the full dosage again.
I had never had a problem with being grouchy or depression until my thyroid problems began.
How long have you been on them? If I remember correctly about the third day after stating Paxil I woke up and I swear the sun was actually shining brighter.
Everyone is different. You may have to try several different types and dosages to find which works best for you.
I also found that if I take them before I go to bed I am not so "droggy" feeling during the day.
Hope this helps you. If you have more questions please feel free to ask. I suffered with thyroid for about 18 yrs now and have discovered things that work best for me.

Ive been on Celexa for like, three weeks? Ive been on Synthroid since.. Maybe End of October, Early November. I am on 250 mcg of Synthroid. Its just terrible. The first week or so on Celexa i was great. No screaming, no freaking out. But now i think i get more mad then i used to? I hate yelling. I freak out if my boyfriend says one wrong thing to me. I feel like if i dont get it under control, he will leave me.

Maybe you should speak to your doctor about trying another type of anti-depressent to see if it works better for you. There are several different types that work in different ways and another one may be the answer.

I also had a terrible time with Synthroid, even though I do not think that it was the cause of my being iratible. Synthroid caused my face to swell up like a chipmunk and I felt awful. I started taking Armour Thyroid about 8 yrs ago and what a difference it made.
Some doctors do not like to prescribe armour thyroid so do not be surprised if you get some flack for wanting to try it.

Everyone is different and not all medications work the same on everyone but I truly think your doctor should help you experiment with different kinds to find what makes you feel the best.

Yes. Take it from me. I know that living with me was not an easy task when I was so grouchy. Heck, I couldn't even stand myself how could I expect anyone else to?!
Hopefully your boyfriend loves you enough to see you through thick and thin. Unfortunately now is just a "thick" time. Has he ever went to a doctor's visit with you? Maybe the doctor could help him understand what you are going through and that eventually it will get better.

My fiancé has underactive thyroid. I was wondering if he will still be able to have children? He will be 48 in three months time.

Hypothyroidism may be a common condition wherever the thyroid doesn’t produce and unharness enough internal secretion into your blood. This makes your metabolism weigh down. Conjointly referred to as inactive thyroid, adenosis will cause you to feel tired, gain weight and be unable to tolerate cold temperatures. The most treatment for adenosis is endocrine replacement medical care.
