I have been taking the same birth control pill for several months now. I am also sexually active. Last month I missed a week or two without having sex. I started a new pack and didn't get my period normal timing. I bleed threw the third week of pills and have had my period for 12 days now. I don't know what is wrong

What is "wrong" is that you "missed a week or two" of your pills. You induced a withdrawal bleed and now your body is adapting to you restarting your birth control.
You can be "off" for several months.
You can't start/stop birth control pills as you want.
