Hello, guys. I have read something about pharmacogenomics. If I understand right, it is a study about the influence of one’s genetic to the body’s response to drugs. However, I have heard that there are some barriers to the progress of this discipline. I wonder whether this is true. Does anyone know?

Hello. Pharmacogenomics is an excellent idea. However, it is still “an infant” in its development. Many things are still unknown. That is why there are some barriers to this discipline’s progress. It is difficult to find gene variations that affect drug response. Drug alternatives are also limited. I also think that pharmaceutical companies are not so interested in pharmacogenomics. This question of yours is complex, I admit. I hope some progress will be made in near future. Bye!
