I am on the pill, take them everyday. I have been on it for a few years now, im 20. I had my normal period last week for 5 days like always. then it went away and now a week later i woke up bleeding very heavily. just like I had it again. Im really scared because nothing like this has ever happened before. I have had no pregnancy symptoms or anything. What is going on??

Hi Megan! Breakthrough bleeding is VERY common! Also it might be time to either give your body a break fromt he pill for a couple of months OR change it! Ask your doctor about what he/she thinks! Just know it is normal OK? I remember once - also in my 20's - waking up and my bed was SOAKED with blood ! It just lasted that time and that was it! It FREAKED me out! And when I asked the doctor he said "We don't know why it happens it just does!" so there's the words of a true professional!!! ;-) XD

well thank you, i have been freaking out. I just have never had it happen before or any problems for that matter, but i was just worried about being pregnant or something but yes i will contact my doctor, thank you ! :-)

I went through that in October. My doctor tested me for pre-menopause and my tests came back fine nothing was off so she said I was fine and that it just happens. Oh well I guess some things just happen.

Hi Megan! I would REALLY like you to make an appointmnet with your doctor! Breakthrough bleeding isn't usually lasting for several days! So see what they say about giving you a break, or changing the pills OK?
