Hi. I had sex with a guy with genital warts. I use condoms every time I have sex, but I am still worried. Is HPV highly contagious? The guy had no warts.

Hi. HPV is a STI and you can get HPV by having sex of any kind (oral, vaginal, or anal) with a person infected with HPV. The only way not to get genital warts is not to have sex. If you can`t see the warts it doesn`t mean you can`t get the infection. Condoms are not safe enough in case of genital warts. You can`t cover all of the infected area. You have many kinds of HPV and some of them cause genital warts, some of them not. The incubation period is pretty long. Months, or sometimes years can pass until you notice genital warts.
