My father is 55 years old and he just came back from the doctor with CLL diagnose. It looks like he is still in a good health and it will be a while until the symptoms are seen, for now he does not need any therapy. Anyway, I would like to know a bit more about this disease, is there a cure, a screening test, what are prognosis?

I must admit that there is no definite cure for this illness, it is progressive and cannot be reversed. The only thing left is hope that first symptoms will show after decades, which is possible. After that, radio, chemo and bio therapy are required, some patients need bone marrow transplantation. As for tests, there are some that can show how much time approximately the patient has left, in which stage of development the illness is at that moment.
