My father has just been diagnosed with leukemia, monocytic type. He is 67 years old and I have to admit that no one saw that coming. Although, he did work in a factory for refining the waste materials, and perhaps that is the cause off his problem. I just hope that he will be ok. Can you tell me what is this condition he suffers from?

The condition he has most likely has been provoked by the decades of exposure to dangerous materials. Not just that type, all types of leukemia might occur because of that. AMoL or AML M5 is a form of AML – acute myeloid leukemia. An intensive chemotherapy might help him, or in the worst case scenario, bone marrow transplantation.
