I did get 30ea. .25 Xanax from my Doctor after I got out of the hospital, I keep one in my little pill holder for absolute emergencies. My system is so hyper sensitive right now I find a half pill can work. I think I have only taken ten pills in 6 weeks total.

Thanks brothers and let me know what works and how it goes.

I'm sure that it will do the job. Next time, though, if you don't have the money to go to the doctor to get a prescription for it, buy it online at one of those canadian online drugstore. It's not free, of course, but is a lot cheaper than going to the doctor and then to a regular drugstore to buy it.

This is a forum largely detailing the misery of Tramadol tapering and withdrawals. WTF are you doing here???!

Okay...this week is better in beating the Tramadol withdrawals. Still getting the some hot flashes and other symptoms, but all in all I'm doing better. Doc prescribed Atarax on Friday to deal with the anxiety. It's an antihistamine that is also used as an anti-anxiety meds.

I'm also on Gabapentin 50mg, twice a day and can go to 3 times daily to deal with arthritis pain. This is for another 3 weeks before I see my pain med doc again. At that time we are going to evaluate where I am. The Gabapentin was used to deal with the arthritis pain and get me thru the Tramadol withdrawal until we could see exactly where I needed to go.

Talked with my pharmacist on Friday and he was in agreement that Tramadol is overused and said that he thought it should only be used short term. The fact that I had been on it for almost 30 months was astounding to him and he told me to be prepared to take a while to get it completely out of my system.

Anyway...Update is...getting better and getting the c**p out of my system. Anyone that is reading this and going thru it keep your head up...you'll make it too. Anyone that is reading this and you are thinking about getting off of Tramadol, do it sooner rather than later. It sucks and you'll need some help to get off of it, but do it.

Hi Keith, So glad that you are doing better. I am interested to know how the Atarax works for out for you for anxiety. Do you notice an improvement, any side effects?

I am day 17 off tramadol! Feeling better than last week also, not fully healed but better. I stopped the gabapentin which I had been using at night for sleep and restless leg 3 days ago. It worked well and I do still have a small to moderate amount of rls mostly in my arms and hands at night but not bad like the first week.

I have been taking for anxiety the following supplements with some benefits, l- theanine, fish oil (2 grams of epa total) with vitamin e, htp-5 only 50 mg in the morning and vitamin d 2000mg

For some calming and rls help, liquid magnesium, which does help noticably compared to tablets, 125 mg twice per day. ( this interacts with gabapentin and should take at least 2 hours apart).

Really who knows if these are doing much, the effects are subtle comparaed to rx meds it may just be I am healing.

Late morning, afternoon anxiety still there but staying busy helps. The first week I walked like crazy every day to get a bit of endorphin releif now maybe every other.

I see my Docter in a few weeks and am printing out the tramadol DEA sheet from 2014 which details the dependence and some of the withdrawal issues. Remember tramadol is now schedule 4 the same as most benzodiazepines so hopefully Doctors may think a bit longer before prescribing them long term.

All my best,

Robert

Update day 18, horrid waves of anxiety and depression, starting after breakfast. God I am sick of this! I know it takes time to heal , my herbal, amino acid arsenal ain't doing squat. May hit the xanax!
Do not take this drug please (tramadol) and sorry for the self obsession.

No need to apologize and I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm only on day 11 and this c**p is getting old quickly, but not to the point where I would even consider going back on that stuff. Along with the daily anxiety nonsense, my body decided today was the day to flush more stuff out of my system. It is getting better and I keep thinking I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and this time it's not going to be the tramadol train that is going to hit me. Try and stay positive and do what you have to do with the Xanax to keep the mind right.

Thanks Buddy! It's funny I still have at least two hundred pills in my closet but not once have I considered taking another.

I am out pounding around in my garden planting garlic, seems to help.
I am conflicted for some reason about asking my Doc for an antidepressant or a drug like Buspar for anxiety. But today was BAD.

Appreciate the support and a place to vent my spleen. Wife is an awesome and patient person but I know she getting sick of hearing about this stuff.

Not a problem at all. I called my GP last week and just got something short term to get me thru the bad points while I'm battling this c**p. My wife is the same...and while she is very supportive, I hate the fact that I'm going thru this, but needed something to deal with is so she and my little girl don't catch all of my nonsense. Keith

I agree, I ws always the strong guy all my friends and family called or visited for council and advice. I do not want to be this helpless, fragile creature. 1/2 xanax .25 really helped.

Stay strong and in touch please.

Okay...Day 13 and finally thinking I'm having what should be a normal day. No anxiety attacks and no physical symptoms...could this be getting over the hump? (Let me find some wood to knock on real quick) Had a couple of days of physical withdrawal symptoms, but the Gabapentin and the Diflunisal seem to helping with the pain, swelling, and anxiety issues. Just a key reminder...if your meds say to take with food, take with food. The only issue I've had today is I was late taking it and didn't exactly have anything on my stomach...a few dizzy moments but a little fruit and I'm good. Hope everyone else is doing well. This is doable and and is possible to see a life without that nasty c**p.

Hooray man! So glad to hear it. I have had two way better days myself after my awful one a few days ago. It really helps to be busy I find. Only taking magnesium and theanine and fish oil now. I could ebay the racks of supplements and herbs in my closet for a month, I frantically bought so many.
I do find an overall lack of energy compared to my old self, get tired more quickly as well, Used to drink way more coffee, now one small cup in the morning is it. Day 20 for me.

Reallly good work Keith! Cheers,

Robert

Just checking in on everyone. Things are going better with me. Still battling the symptoms of withdrawal, but these days it's mostly intestinal and anxiety issues and those seem to be diminishing. - Keith
