I know that this thread is really old, but I can't put my mind at rest right now.
I too have had some weird symptoms, but the timing of everything is different. Around 3 years ago, I had unprotected vaginal sex with a co-worker of mine at the time, a girl that I later learned really "gets around" if you know what I mean. It was a drunken mistake, and had I been sober, it would have never happened.
I do not recall getting sick after the incident, but I have no idea if there was a period of sickness or not. It's just that it's been so long I honestly can't remember. I do know that I RARELY get sick, in fact the last time I was truly ill was the January before last. (January 2009.) That was the first time I had been sick in quite some time. Since then I haven't had any fevers or night sweats or swollen glands, but I have had many strange symptoms and I still haven't had a STD screening from a doctor. Here's the symptoms I've noticed:
1. the strangest thing that happened to me is that for quite some time, I had difficulty urinating. it would come out as a slow trickle, and ejaculating was damn near impossible. it felt like someone shoved a golf ball up my anus, I could feel a pressure on or around my prostate pretty much all of the time. it started off pretty mild, but eventually (over the course of at least a year) got to the point where it was freaking me out. I took some supplements (oregano oil and caprylic acid) for a while, and I'm not sure if they worked, but that problem is gone altogether. hooray?
2. I have a small "rash" (for the lack of a better term) on my legs/thighs, to the left and the right of my genitals. it's fairly small and doesn't look hideous, but it's pretty persistent. I've researched it quite a bit online and it looks like your average run of the mill jock itch, but it's just strange how it looked all flaky/scaly... and flaky and scaly skin is one of the HIV symptoms you always read about online. I do know that it seems to respond to anti-fungal sprays.
3. the most "felt" symptom that I have is definitely in my eyes. the area around and under both of my eyes always feels pressurized and a little itchy. It never really goes away. It just ranges from "slightly annoying" to "miserable". also, my under eye region as well as inner eye (close to my nose) is dark and veins are more noticeable than they used to be, even on my eyelids. I do have allergies and my sinuses can go haywire if the weather is right.
4. the most visible symptom that I have is definitely my tongue. I don't want to say it's thrush, because from what I've seen, what I have looks different. it basically looks like a bunch of white slime that builds up on my tongue; the majority of it is in the center towards the back and it sorta fades a bit as it goes out, but it's very noticeable. there aren't little circular patches, and it doesn't hurt to brush my tongue. Also, it's on my tongue and back of throat only, not on my cheeks, roof of mouth, gums, etc. i quit smoking recently and I noticed that it didn't decrease the build up whatsoever... it's just whiter now, instead of a dingy gray. (which almost makes it even MORE noticeable) This symptom has freaked me out a lot because I know it's not just my imagination, it's something I can actually see. I have to brush my tongue at least once daily, otherwise I am so self-conscious about it that I don't even want to open my mouth in public. it also builds up pretty quickly, I went without brushing it for 2-3 days before to see what it would look like and it was pretty gross. I can run a fingernail down my tongue and scrape off a bunch of gunk. it doesnt bleed or hurt though. I also remember that before I noticed stuff on my tongue, I was able to scrape off white plaque off of my gums with my fingernail. this has been ongoing for quite a while.
5. I had some random bone pains in my hip, but I haven't experienced this in a while.
6. I have "eye floaters" all the time now. They aren't that noticeable unless I am looking at something bright, like driving a car in the daytime or looking at this laptop's screen. I also feel like I have an increased sensitivity to light.
7. my bowel movements are really strange. i often have a "rumbly" stomach, and when I poop, it's really soft and explosive most of the time. At least 50% of the time when I have a bowel movement, it's like this. It's just odd that having a "normal" bowel movement sticks out to me now, as it's far more uncommon than what I'm used to. It's not the completely watery type of bowel movements that I'm used to when I'd get the flu or something, but it's close. it's definitely chronic.
8. I feel lethargic a lot of the time and I definitely don't have the energy that I used to have, but this could be due to the fact that I no longer have a high-energy job. i feel like i yawn WAY too much.
9. I frequently experiences "pins and needles" and numbness in my hands, and sometimes, my feet. My palms get really mottled-looking sometimes.
10. random muscle aches. especially near joints. joint pain as well, especially knees and neck.
11. significant weight loss. this one can probably be explained, but I am a paranoid person so I gotta consider everything. in the time after the encounter, i lost a lot of weight. but, during this time I quit going out to bars and pretty much stopped drinking alcohol altogether for quite some time. (I was getting drunk every day) But I did lose a lot of weight in a relatively short period of time.
12. random bruises that seem to appear out of nowhere.
13. brain fog... I feel forgetful, hazy, disinterested. it's really easy these days for me to forget something 10 minutes after I'm told.
14. really shaky hands. i've had problems with anxiety for about 10 years now, but in the last 2 years or so i've noticed that my hands are starting to shake a lot. it's to the point where it's embarassing because if I am trying to hand something small to someone else, my hand will be visibly trembling. it definitely does increase when I am thinking about something stressful (such as this), but it is problematic anytime, really. i can be laughing and having a good time and still have shaky hands.
What I haven't had:
fevers, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes (I haven't noticed any at least), sickness (except that time I mentioned), rashes (except the one in my groin), unexplained lesions, nausea, unexplained headaches, etc.
I haven't had certain symptoms listed for HIV, but I've done enough reading online (way too much honestly) to know that the only way I can know for sure if I have HIV is to get tested, but fear and self-distraction has kept me from doing so. I really hope that your test comes back negative, and I hope that mine does too whenever I take one. I would hate to think that a one-time random heterosexual sexual encounter could leave me with HIV, but you never know. Honestly, sex isn't even worth the risk anymore. I've worried myself sick thinking about this. The paranoia and fear from wondering if I might have HIV has left me ruined on the idea of even wanting to be in a relationship, because after all this time worrying, I dont know if I could really feel comfortable being in a sexual relationship again unless we were both tested. It's so easy to find yourself in a sexual situation that probably isn't very wise, especially if alcohol is involved. It's just not worth the risk. I'd rather stick with internet porn than worry myself to death.
I personally find having sex with a condom annoying and unsatisfying, but i can tell you this... I'd rather be celibate the rest of my life than have to deal with this c**p! %-)
