Hi I was reading up on a few topics concerning swollen salivary glands but I am not completely sure if that's the problem I'm having.
Within the past 2 weeks I noticed a small swelling on the right side below my chin that pains. It seems very delicate and i do not want to interfere by touching it too much. It is located below my tongue on the underside of my chin and does NOT seem to be affected when I move my head.
However when i noticed it last week i felt it for a day and then it went away and I did not have the problem, but today it began to pain again in the same spot.
I did notice that I consumed alcohol the day before I felt it pain last week as well as yesterday and now I'm feeling it paining today. This is the only trend I have noticed consistent with it but I cannot be sure because it is just the second time it has happened and I do not want to rule out any weird conclusions. I also noticed that over the past 3 months I gained a noticeable amount of weight but again I cannot be for sure if this weight came from consuming alcohol and over-eating over the Christmas period.
I would honestly appreciate as many recommendations and advice on this matter, there is nothing more i can really tell you so this pretty much covers any questions you may have. However I will check for replies and help with any info you may need to help diagnose the problem. Any precautions I can start taking such as consumption of food/alcohol would also be very grateful so that I do not make the problem worst.

I have something of a similar nature, though it shrinks and enlarges at random periods going from only noticable to the touch to being able to see it from ten feet away. I haven't noticed a pattern in size changes. If you think that yours is caused by something, you'd better be safe than sorry.
My family has a history of cysts and cancer, so I had an ultrasound done on it at the hospital. Because it's size changes, we knew it wasn't either, but we wanted to know exactly what it is. The doctor said that it is an infection in the chin. It can change sizes because the puss can drain away down the throat at one point and start building back up again.
The doctor said that I should either go to an ear, nose, and throat specialist or go to the dentist. The dentist works a lot in the area and puss might be caused by an infection in a tooth or in the mouth that is otherwise unnoticable.
