Hi I'm 22 and I am on day 4 of recovery. I had the labia reduction ans reduction of excess prepuse. I am very athletic and my labia where so big when i went into the doc she said I was the "perfect candidate" bc my labia was so big! I went to a VERY reputable ob/gyn plasty and she does this on a daily basis. Before my procedure I came in for a consultation and the nurse showed me pictures of HUNDREDS of different women she has done! They where amazing to say the least! I was floored. When I met with the doctor she went over the different procedures with me and explained what the best was for me. She actually gbe me a mirror and she showed me where she would cut and how she would do everything. I was very happy with the consult. My doctor used a laser and the experience was very good. She has been doing this for over 20 yeta and fixes other plastic surgeons mistakes! They told me no one has ever complained yet because she makes sure you know Wht you are getting done she shows you exactly where she would cut on you and her recommendation. I got an instruction sheet on how I take care of myself. Day 1-5 ICE ICE ICE!!! 15-20 min on ten 10-15 off. This has been my savior! I finally got the courage to look and only my left outer side of my vagina is swollen a little bit, other then that I am tender. It looks perfect just as she said it would look like when she would cut and that she did. I am not able to walk (just the waddle/squat). You want to stay off your feet for 7 days. My doctor mentioned having your vagina leveled at your heart is the best so you will not be putting any pressure on your labia/ vagina at all!) Vicodin has helped with the sharp pains I had down there whenever I would move or try to sit down. I am very happy I did this, It does not burn to go pee, it is just tender. I am at the point where I can't sit in a chair upright bc of the pressure but I'm not worried. I can keep posting updates for future refrences. I'm not sure if I'm able to post the doctors name but she is PHENOMENAL!!)

I too regret ever having allowed myself to be operated by a butcher. He left me without any labia whatsoever! He also cut along the hood of the clitoris exposing it yet more so now it is protruding and more conspicuous than ever. This was done about 13 years ago and I stopped having intercourse about 10 years ago due to the embarrassment it causes me. Do any of you know where I can go to a qualified reconstruction surgeon in the south of England? I woulod really appreciate any information you can give me..thank you in advance..

Hi,

I'm 22 years old and i made the decision to have this operation just under a year ago.

The first step i made was to visit my GP (September 2011) where she agreed to refer me to a specialist through the NHS. My GP was very understanding and helpful. She explained that the operation is no longer undertaken by a Gynecologist but a plastic surgeon. My GP explained not for me to get my hopes up as the NHS are not too keen on paying out on plastic surgery, but nether less I came away hoping for the best.

I had a 3month wait (Dec 2011) until I received a letter from the hospital agreeing to an appointment with a plastic surgeon, where I would get examined to see if I was excepted for the operation. My appointment was for January 2012.
My surgeon was very understanding and caring and listened to why my large labia’s where having such an effect on my life. I was very nervous before the appointment so I made a list of questions to ask her so I wouldn’t forget anything while I was there.
There and then she agreed to undertake the operation, I was so pleased as I had read many reviews of people getting turned away.

I received a letter a couple of weeks later (February 2012) stating that I had been excepted, I was over the moon!!!

I had my date of my pre-op and my operation , June 27th, I was so pleased that I actually had a date.
I attended my pre-op where a nurse explained the procedure in detail and answered any final questions that I had.

A day before my operation I had a phone call stating that my operation had been cancelled due to my surgeon having to operate on an emergency cancer patient, I was very disappointed but I understood that there was some out there with a great need than mine.

I received a letter couple of days later with a new date, July 27th. I only had to wait 1 month so I was very pleased with that.

I had the operation 2days ago and I must say I’m very happy that I made the decision.

I’m in no pain what so ever, I’m having little niggles and scratching feeling now and again but that is it. I’ve been taking Ibuprofen for the swelling and Cocordimol for the pain (only when I need it). I’ve been advised not to put ice on my labia’s, although I have noticed a lot of people are doing this. I’m able to sit up fine, im walking with my legs slightly open as I don’t want to squash anything but in general im fine very upbeat.

I’m passing urine fine, I was very worried about this as many people stated that they had a burning sensation the first time, but luckily for me I’ve been fine.

Although I am swollen, no denying that , my right labia seems to be more so.  Its not looking at all attractive at the moment but that is expected as its only been 2 days. I’ve been given dressings that I must wear at all times and cream to put on the stitching. I’m aloud a shower tonight and a bath in 8 days time, as the warm water may start dissolving the stitches before it’s started to heal fully.

But all in all I am extremely happy with the results so far, I have a follow up appointment in 8days with my surgeon to get examined.

Its only been 10 months since I visited my GP and I’m so pleased that I pushed myself to take the first step. Please do not be put off by the horror stories on here, very one recovers differently from operations so please so not be put off.

Hope this help anyone out there thinking about undertaking the operation J feel free to ask any questions…

Hi Ladies,

I had my labiaplasty performed yesterday morning by Dr. Georgina Konrat in Brisbane, Australia. Her nurses and staff were absolutely wonderful, overall a very great experience. I know that it's still early days for me, but I can already sit very softly on couches and a chair with a cushion. When I got home I was in lots of pain (to the point of crying once the anesthesia wore off) but I took two panadeine and was pretty much set and pain free.
My one suggestion would be to absolutely trust your surgeon 100% and do lots and lots of research. My surgeon uses her own technique (not wedge or trim) and my results look amazing so far (obviously still swollen, but I have an idea of the end result.

I was recommended to use baby wipes after I pee and continue taking antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and panadol/panadeine. I am considering going to uni tomorrow and taking it very lightly because I feel so much better than I thought I would (of course, I'm walking a lot slower and being super careful about how and where I sit).

It's the best decision I've ever made and completely worth it girls, good luck on finding the right surgeon!

I have enlarged inner labia, and I completely enjoy sex. Probably more than most! Don't worry about it, it's not something a normal guy will think twice about when he finally gets there, and I promise you can have very enjoyable sex and be told your beautiful down there.

I am considering labiaplasty and have been since i was mid teens i am now twenty and wish i had done it before university in my long holiday as i am training to be a teacher this is a very active hands on course and i worry that even the six week holidays will not be a long enough time to recover?!!?

I have a very large labia that protrudes both sides especially the left and like you i think a clitoral hood that i think i would rather leave and be able to live with.

I was wondering Carter 111 which hospital you were at and which surgeon. I am an extrememly shy person and other than a friend was hoping to have this surgery on my own maybe choosing a cosmetic surgery rather than see a GP who will tell me what i already know and then going on the NHS.

I would love any advice, updates and information you can share.

I feel like i am also in your position,

Thank you so much and i hope to hear from you and that all is going extremely well for you.

Hello Mimi, I had labiaplasty done by Georgina on the 20th Nov 2012. I'm now on day 4 and my swelling has gone down but I feel as if iv been stitched up too close to the hope in my vagina. It is hard to explain but applying the cream is quiet difficult at this stage. It all looks great though. Maybe we can compare results ? How are you feeling/looking ?

If you have no issues in your private area only the way it looks I urge you not to have the surgery. The healing process is horrific!!!!!! I'm four days per pre op. Still in pain burning feeling even after I've cleaned the area pressure even a smell down there:( I'm grabbing a mirror ALOT to make sure everything looks okay. It does look okay nothing unusual. Probably need to wash with soap as I have been just letting it run down my stomach afraid of setting it more on fire than it already is. Sanitary reasons is why I had the surgery. Don't do it!
