Hello.
I've been struggling with my larg labia minora for years and I can't take it anymore. They get in the way during sex and often become irritated. I want surgery but can't afford it. Is there anyway medical insurance can cover the procedure or at least partially? Are there payment options? My labia cause me so much trouble and are getting in the way with daily life. Help!

I can't speak to them getting in the way, but I can say that I've read that many women who have had this surgery complain of pain inthis area forever after the surgery. Don't do it!

it only gives you permanent damage if you have an inexperienced and unreliable surgeon, which goes for any procedure.

When considering labiaplasty, is it better to go to a OBGYN or a Plastic?

3000K to 5000K depending more on the state than anything (ca & ny being most expensive)

NO NO NO@ DO NOT DO IT AT AN OBGYN! ALL THEY DO IS CUT OFF PIECES, THEY DO NOT SHAPE IT, OR TIGHTEN THE LIPS, ONLY TRIM. (With apair of scissors for that matter). Having it done that way removes all nerve endings in the labia, when a PS does it, it does not.

I hear so many horrid stories... My girlfriend had her labiaplasty done 5 years ago with the Doctor who invented this procedure Dr. Matlock in Beverly Hills. I'm scheduled to have my surgery in two days and cannot wait. My friend is extremly pleased with the results and her life and sex life is more pleasurable her husband loves it. She has no pain.

I don't take any surgery lightly. If you want to something done correctly 3 DONT BE CHEAP! Do your research find the right doctor!! This is your body and life. Don't have someone use a scapel! Or have OBYN do this procedure!

I had my surgery done a week ago, and I am already very happy with the reults. I had very little pain, which i feel was due to several pieces of advice i recieved.

First of all, pain killers are great, but I found that taking them interfered with my day. I am a student with a busy schedule and I refused to miss any school or due dates for this procedure. That is why when taking tylenol 3's, th drowsiness became a bit of an inconvenience. I limited myself to one pain killer a day, and only if i really needed it, but if you can afford to be sleepy, then take them when needed!

The real trick to limiting the pain was what I put on the wounds. Along with the antibiotics, the doctor prescribed a fucidin ointment which i put on twice to three times daily on the stitches. The trick is to then put a thin strip of gauze on top of the wound. The gauze sticks to the ointment and created a simulated layer of skin. The second great trick is to wear tight underwear, which limits rubbing. And when rubbing does occur, it is the layer of gauze that rubs with the underwear, not the labia.
Finally sitz baths with epsom salts were recommended at least twice a day, and these seem to help too.

Hopefully this advice is as useful to you as it was to me, and I wish those of you a painless recovery!
