chefhart You and me both. i had a double bypass done in november of 2008. Unfortunately for me they had given me an infection and sent me home. within 2 weeks i was sick really sick so back to the hospital i go and of course they put me back in and the dr came in the next morning and started pressing around the the stitches and staples. it exploded in his face. i mean really exploded it was all over his face in his hair in the nurses hair all over the bed and all over me. they had me on the table that afternoon and had me on vancomycin to combat the infection they opened me back up but in this short of time it had gotten into my bones so they removed the infected part of my sternum the debrided me also then wired it back together, stapled and stitched me back up. to make a long story short in 2008 i had 1 surgery in 2009 i had 18 surgery's inn 2010 i had 1 more so was basically living in the hospital for 2 years. as of now i dont have a sternum at all no gristle on the ends of my ribs nothing between my collar bones to keep them from rubbing when u try to sleep on your side. they had to remove all of it and bring in an infectious disease dr to finally get rid of the infection. it wasnt staff or mrsa it was a common skin bacteria that is called rare cornei bacteria the reason its rare is it is suppose to be outside not inside.but vanco wouldnt touch it i dont remember now which drug finally killed it but it was an old one like 1 step up from penicillin. anyway i now have a huge hole in my chest with scar tissue at the bottom of the hole. i cant lift anything cant push anything think, any time u basically use the upper part of your body your muscles flex in your chest. well when mine does it hurts like hell which is most of the time cause i cant be a couch potato. im 65 now and if they could ever come up with an artificial one i swear i would be the first one in line. its been 10 years now that ive had to live with this. they say quantity of life over quality. of that to be quite honest if it hurts like this for the next 20 years i think i would much rather have quality over quantity what do u think Micheall
