Make sure your doc is aware of your post-op pain and spasms. I have not heard of such pronounced pain. I did feel some spasms first few weeks in buttocks, same side affected by sciatica and figured it was things shifting and releasing. Everyone - Remember pear juice not prunes, so mild on your system and less gassy it is recommended for infants. I take 4-8 oz for each Vicodin and evens out nicely. Best to not wait until you are constipated to drink the juice.

David If i can be of any help to anyone i am more then happy to share my expoerience with them. Befor my surgery i discussed my case with number of nuro surgeons/spine surgeons not with orthopedic surgeons.Orthopdic surgeons can advise surgeory and they can also do the job but its better u do it through a nuro surgeon or a spine surgeon as the area is very sensative. Thats what i did. I am quite satisfied and my family is quite happy. I am still taking all the precautions and very careful while using stairs and sitting in the car. i bend my seat so to put less stress on my surgery area while i am in my car as i am not allowed to drive at this point of time. while getting up from chair i put most of my load on my legs and use my arms to lift me up. In this way u can put less pressure on your back. My doctor advised that muscles takes much longer to heal, so give its due time to heal completly. Good luck my prayers with you. best regards

David - dont worry about the surgery all will be fine. You have to be positive and take it easy. This problem is very common now and lot of people have gone through the surgery. You just have to be careful post op care. Its very important. I think i have read quite a few feedback on post op care and that can be helpful. Good luck :)

I am 3 months and still the same but I am not discouraged. I have resumed acupuncture which has been awesome for pain management. Nerve was pinched for many years so not surprised it will take many years for the muscles to learn to relax.

The most important recommendation I can make is double check the surgeron's skill set and his or hers industry's rep. There are alot of doctors "practicing" who should have never been given a M.D. Take you're time and get to the right doctors. Ask questions and ask questions to their answers. Finally, after performing your due diligence and have the surgery. You'll be in pain for about a week to 14 days. As if you were kicked by a horse. After the surgery, the hospital staff should have you up and walking within 5 to 6 hours after the operation and discharged within 24 hours. Although it is painfull at first, walking is the BEST medicine. Walk every chance you can get. Get a dog, drag a cat, but walk. The pain will go away slowly at first but excerise is the best medicine. A few vicodines don't hurt either from time to time but try to avoid them if possible. After a couple of months you can be pain free if all goes well. Good Luck.

Happy New Year. No I did not have the surgery yet. The book until Jan so maybe in Jan or Feb hopefully. This is a worker comp case so everything take time and must be approved. I am glad to hear that you are recovering so well. I took my time and did my research and i hope to have the same results. right now I cannot walk no longer than 10 min before my legs go painfully numb so I need to have this surgery soon. Soon as I get a date I will let you know. Take care all my best to you and the family Happy new year.
