I have been doing a lot of reading about the HIV/AIDS virus and how it develops, in relation to a college paper I am working on. I read somewhere that a common sign of HIV is a lump on the roof of your mouth. Now that has me all freaked out, because I get those sometimes. Could that mean I have HIV? I mean, I did have a one night stand once....

HIV is not that easy to get, despite its reputation. If you have had unprotected intercourse once, the chances of having contracted HIV are about one in a million. You probably just have herpes, which explains the sore in your mouth. It's harmless but shows your immune system has been weakened, which the reason AIDS patients often get this. If you are at all worried about HIV, you can get yourself checked at any planned parenthood clinic.
