Hi there,
2 months ago i had the mirena inserted. The reason i had this done was to assist in shrinking a fibroid i have which has been causing huge hassles (heavy bleeding , extreme pain etc)
Now since the insertion i have had continuous bleeding, extreme pain, bloated tummy, weight gain etc... Now from reading a few posts on this site it seems that this could be caused by the Mirena. The whole time i'm thinking it is caused by the fibroid.
has anyone had the mirena inserted for this reason? If yes, did it help the shrinking of the fibroid? I've been told to keep the mirena for 12 - 18 months. I wanted to start a family now but the gynae recommended waiting for the fibroid to shrink. I'm also contemplating going for a 2nd opinion. But after a bad week this week i'm thinking of having the Mirena removed for good. i cant deal with that pain anymore.
anyone got any feedback please?
thanks,
Sue :-)

Hi sue,
Exactly the same situation. Not sure what to do with the constant bleeding. I have about 5 days break and back again.
Only had mirena put in about 5 months ago, due to Fibroids and heavy bleeding. But there has been no change.
The GP keeps telling me to persevere a little while longer, but I expected change by now.
Have you had any change or luck.
regards
Eve

I went today to have Mirena inserted due to heavy bleeding during periods, fibroids, and endometriosis. It was so painful. The doctor said it wasn't as bad as giving birth...I question that. It felt like my cervix was being twisted into a circle or knot. The doctor froze my cervix to help the pain, it helped a bit. Long story short my cervix is too tight so they couldn't insert it. After reading all the posts,I don't think I want to go through with this. I'm being sent to a specialist to see if they can insert it. I have been having heavy bleeding and large clots ever since my appointment today. I went through all this discomfort and pain for basically nothing.
